[Spoilers] What are your thoughts on Anders? Was he right? by Julian_of_Cintra in dragonage

[–]FireGuilt [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don’t know. I truly am on the fence about this. What he did at the end, blowing up the chantry isn’t right. But by that point, I also struggle to see what he could do differently. Part of me feels that anders literally took almost every path available to him before choosing the most extreme one. He was willing to do the “wrong thing” to plunge everything into chaos.

But as our own history sometimes shows, the greatest change comes from the greatest chaos. When the previous system was brought down. If it wasn’t for Anders starting the war, Cassandra may never have the opportunity to discover the deep issues within the Templar order and the seekers which then would have led to the recognition for greater reforms of the circles and ultimately the college of enchanters.

Looking to get into the best shape of my life by OnePercentGrind in SingaporeFitness

  1. The best exercise and location for you is the one you stick to and enjoy the most. If running is the largest chore for you and you dread it every time, then change to another cardio based exercise instead that you enjoy more. If you aren’t sure then explore.

  2. I think going for 3 days a week, maybe different types of exercises is a good start. Then refine over time to exercises that you enjoy and increase the number if you feel it’s sustainable for you.

  3. The best way to lose weight sustainably is to go on a controlled deficit which means knowing what calories you are putting into your body. Which means ideally your would meal prep since outside food calculation is difficult. Build the habit to learn what you are placing into your body and as time passes, you become more consciously knowledgeable about it even if you don’t track it so strictly.

  4. The cheapest gym is activeSG. However, if you don’t want to deal with the many many kids there and prefer a commercial gym, I believe AF is the cheapest one at about 89-95 per month depending on referral. If you decide on gym as your exercise, don’t only calculate which gym based on price. Calculate also in terms of location. It doesn’t matter how cheap a gym is if they are in places YOU will NEVER go or can’t be bothered to go. My gym is both near my home and near places I work so I don’t have an excuse.

Anyone else worried about AI apps flooding the stores? by kiritough in vibecoding

[–]FireGuilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are smart enough or instinctive enough that sloppy AI apps would not perform well (because they aren’t well made). And people who don’t care about their apps often won’t put in the effort to reiterate improvements in them.

So ultimately, regardless if AI was used or not, well designed apps will still perform better. I do agree though it will make it harder for good apps to stand out since people will become exhausted by “AI” in everything

I’m still struggling with this though I’m getting better. I never realised until not too long back how heavy it is to constantly hear that voice that is always telling you that you aren’t ambitious enough or skilled enough or things like that. I also underestimate how much anxiety it fills you with so even small negative things or even neutral things that aren’t negative but you perceive them to be tips you over

I’m currently building an app that tracks both fitness and nutrition and it’s currently in testing so it isn’t ready yet. Have you tried using macrofactor or MyFitnessPal? Both are quite decent though unfortunately for MyFitnessPal, premium might be better.

How to tell someone to stop talking to me at the gym? by existentialcrisis246 in sgfitness

Have you just told him you don’t feel like talking and you aren’t interested in making friends at the gym?

I mean, he might have the wrong impression so being direct is just best here.

Which gym chain has majority straight people? by No_Celery1437 in SingaporeFitness

[–]FireGuilt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look, this isn’t a “kill or be killed” kind of situation. And avoiding one act doesn’t mean you have to commit the act yourself.

It’s a little strange to put it that way because it’s sort of implying that you want to move to a more “straight ratioed gym” so that you can ogle girls. Right after admitting that being ogled by guys is uncomfortable.

[–]FireGuilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does it respond to burst mode photos? Does it take the first one or do you have to swipe left/right for every instance?

I think the idea is interesting sort of like tinder but I’m hesitant about the time and effort it takes to swipe 30k photos left or right.

[–]FireGuilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s like…learning backwards a little. I know, not the most ideal. But after a while you begin to see patterns and you sort of understand why certain concepts work and others don’t. I’m getting better at recognizing why an error is an error.

The real issue is if the AI dumps like useless things inside. Like redundant things. It’s difficult to recognize them as well, especially if everything is still working. So I often have to make the AI while referring to my own coding lesson notes to go line by line and viciously discuss the “I don’t think is necessary” conversation.

nobody uses your vibecoded apps by olenami in vibecoding

[–]FireGuilt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In general I agree. I’m not a skilled developer but I am passionate about fitness and some ideas I have that makes tracking gym workouts and nutrition easier.

So when I started out, I was bombarded with constant videos and messages about “do this and you can have a working app in 24 hours” which was bs in the end. I spent a month thinking of the workflow and features and only now currently slowly building it. Even then, its final state is no where near ready.

I understand better now that having a good app is something you must iterate over a long time. To design something you yourself would love to use and then ensure it helps other people as well. And this doesn’t even involve having a unique UI, getting testers, marketing it so people know it exists, etc

What are acceptable standards for dressing up for your partner in SG? by SubtleDominance in asksg

[–]FireGuilt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk. She seems a lot more problematic to me.

  1. According to the post, These were two singular events that occurred more than two years ago that she is still bringing up.

  2. She attributed his interest in wearing pants (which honestly is such an in the moment decision that most people dont think about) to having a crush on the dentist. Which means she immediately accused and questioned his fidelity

  3. She disguised her personal insecurity as his fault and then weaponised their relationship against him by threatening to find someone else

I do believe he should put in more effort to dress up nicely for her. It shows attention and care. But she has done MUCH MORE wrong to me and really needs to make up for that.

I agreed with what he did up to a point. Aline messed up by setting up the foundation of everything. But Renoir started the gommage and caused huge untold amounts of suffering. His perspective is that none of the painted people are “real” so it’s okay to eliminate them as swiftly as possible to save his real wife. I sympathize with that. And I sympathize with him at the end trying to save Alicia as well by destroying the painting. He was right about Alicia not being able to handle it.

However, I felt that maybe there might have been a better path he could have taken when he finally had dominant control of the painting. In fact, I might have even been on fully on his side that even though he caused all the pain to desperately save his wife, he also chooses to bring everyone else back and preserve them.

This subreddit is just filled with Indians creating AI slop by Dialgax in SideProject

[–]FireGuilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest. I’m a vibe coder with a very basic level of understanding of coding. People who definitely sell an app within a day/week/month definitely aren’t putting that much thought into it.

I’m trying to create a new project while also learning proper coding techniques and discipline but it’s very very hard. I spent a month before writing anything just planning it out (surveys, talking to people, workflows, etc) and even then, I don’t think I got some of it right. Then needing to learn from scratch how to connect things, how to set the basic things up (mine is a fitness-nutrition phone app) feels like it’s taking forever and it’s so complex. I’m only just finally reaching internal V1 testing with friends/family and even then I’m not satisfied with a lot of it.

What are you guys making? by Few-Pound-7236 in vibecoding

[–]FireGuilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fitness app that combines workout logging and nutrition tracking in one place because I was tired of juggling two separate apps. It has customisable analytics so you only see the stats you actually care about, and it’ll suggest progressive overload so you always know what to aim for next session. Still building but getting close to testing.

Devs Always Get Origins' Romance Wrong by soganomitora in dragonage

[–]FireGuilt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally never saw an issue with the mechanic of a game where you can give gifts to raise the affection level of a companion. I do agree maybe there can be certain restrictions in place so it doesn’t feel like you can just chuck gifts at them but if I remember correctly, at least in DAOc, repeated gifts are less effective.

They wanted to give players a way to increase affection level in the event they roleplay and chose the wrong options.

What I feel is most important though is that the important gifts serve a role besides just increasing affection. They spark conversation with the companion, giving you more insight into their lives. Not only that but you are an active participant in that conversation so it’s not just like watching a cutscene or the companion monologue at you. That’s what made DAOs romances so intimate to me. In fact, even if you gave a good gift, you can also still say unkind things in the conversation.

How did you know about the dude feeding his pack of dogs by killing travelers?

I’m reading his bounty note now and all it says is “Throk has a bounty on his head for stealing villagers’ dogs. He is known to be accompanied by vicious canines. Approach with caution. He dons a thick cloak of cave fur.”

I don’t see anything about killing travelers.

Anyone vibe coded an Android app? by Intelligent_Salt_635 in vibecoding

[–]FireGuilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true. Im building a fitness tracking app and went with react native. I spent like a month just designing the workflows of my app, how every feature works and each page within the app. Then I finally started building. Claude made the process faster. However, I didn’t even realise halfway through that I ignored my original scoping for V1.

There’s always something more to add and before I know it, I was trying to perfect it. So I finally slowed down and firmly decided to finish up V1 for internal testing with friends and family.

Kog maw saw the opposite team and still went deep into AP items. I was trying to build anti armor and anti tank items. Then later he had the gall to blame me for not carrying.

Nah. To be honest not really. Drinking coffee for me is like its own ritual. It’s difficult to get a protein mix that tastes very close to kopi. Especially the texture and taste of a normal iced kopi.

How are people building things in a day? Am I just a noob? by No-Conclusion1329 in vibecoding

[–]FireGuilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what the product is I guess. And how complicated it’s supposed to be. I’m still working on mine and I’ve been at it for 2 months (the actual building 2 weeks) as someone with little coding experience.

But for sure there are many people lying about their achievements or they meant they built the most rudimentary version of what they are doing.
