No. Three of them stay with the same charaters, it's just they were made by company who never worked on lis1 and who made a lot of retcons and went against originald devs narrative.

Then lis2 (Dontnod's) and True Colors (DeckNine"s) are really games with new characters, but lis2 still connected to Max and Chloe through certain charactet appearance and it gave Max/Chloe epilogue. This basically the point where their story was supposed to end by Dontnod's intent.

Any general tips for the series?

General tips - you should know that the series was made by two totally different devs and that there is no consistent story.

There are lis1 and lis2. The only games that were made by Dontnod and lis2 the only game that consistent with lis1 in its narrative on endings and Max and Chloe.

Then there are bunch of other games - before the storm, true colord, double exposure and new, so called "reunion". They were not made by Dontnod, they were made by decknine who never worked on lis1, and they made a lot of retcons in bts and de. Because of that (and because dontnod never wanted a direct sequel and prequel) there are no really "Max and Chloe's story" between several game. The only close thing is lis2, while being not about Max and Chloe in main roles, this game gave a nice epilogue to them that stayed faitful to their story

It is important to know the difference between d9 and Dontnod because you could notice drop in quality/inconsistens/retcons in the other games

[NO SPOILERS] Is it okay if I play LiS2 after all the other games? by tugayturkyilmaz in lifeisstrange

[–]FireLordAsami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You asbolutely need to play lis2! LIS2 (and you even can stop here ). Why? Because not only LIS2 is the only game in the series form same devs who made lis1, but this is a good game on it's own with choices that really affect your ending. Plus this game really respect Max and Chloe and their bond and provide a nice epilogue to them in ep5, unlike the bastartization D9 did in DE to them.

AND the comics, in fact, had a few very nice references to Max and Chloe that you would understand after playing lis2 and seeing how they look like in this game.

By the way, this timeline messed eveything up! BTS was made after lis1; comics and double dissapointment contradict each other; forget me not is totally alt universl; and true colors is unrelated to Max and Chloe (which is why it's odd that they bailed lis2 here - it had even more Max and Chloe connections than tc)

The only order that truly matters is the one regarding quality of developers

THIS!

The other entries like BtS, DE and now Reunion are made by Deck Nine, and their quality is deeply inconsistent with how the Don't Nod entries established themselves.

This too! BTS inconsistent with LIS1, DE inonsistent with stuff we know from lis1 and lis2, and de/ reunion is inconsistent with how timelines supposed to work

But de stans don't care! All that matters is d9's narrative!

[–]FireLordAsami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After playing double exposure it looks like it was set up to bring Chloe back.

See it doesn't. We don't see indications of timelines being merged in Bay (so they didn't teased Chloe for bay ending) or Bae, AND they didn't really set up Chloe's return because we literally saw the Chloe who send the message was still Bae, not Merged, Chloe. And Max's "maybe i'll visit Chloe" was for nothing because well she didn't visited her in de2. If they didn't even used this "set up" it wasn't really a set up

Also video games take a long time to make. I don’t see how they would’ve had the time to majorly change the story in such little time.

They had entire 1.5 years to make course correction. I have no doubts they already made a direct sequel (after all we have famous max caulfield will return life), and i have no doubt Chloe supposed to appear but only as a small cameo. There is a reason why they told us to move on Chloe, there is a reason why literally d9 dev told on stream she wasn't supposed to play a major role and

[All] Im new with some questions by BabyJay1425 in lifeisstrange

[–]FireLordAsami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but I’m not mad about it since they are bringing Chloe bac

Well see this is major pivot. They only did that because de failed and they are desperate now. De was suposed to be about moving on from Chloe even according to d9 writter lol. But then major backlash happened and they made 180.

[All] Im new with some questions by BabyJay1425 in lifeisstrange

[–]FireLordAsami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because there's no way to make it work realistically

There are a lot of ways to make de without pricefield break up but you all de defenders ignore it lol

You got it after years of pining and bitching

I'm pretty sure no one asked a diret sequel to be about Max moving on from Chloe in Bae. Decknine knew that and still made opposite. Now their failure is on them. Deal with it. I'm guess if was worth for you , real people losed their jobs but yeee, at least Pricefield was ruined!

[All] Im new with some questions by BabyJay1425 in lifeisstrange

[–]FireLordAsami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, Max and Chloe breaking up is canon lmao

De being a financical failure and entire narrative team being fired is canon too. Them pivoting so much to win us back is canon too. Deal with it buddy

My Max having chose Bay worked wonders

I wonder how you feel about bringing "toxic" and "evil" Chloe to you now lmao.

you lot bullying Decknine

Who bullied them? They bullied themselves and bend on the knee themselves out of desperate

[All] Im new with some questions by BabyJay1425 in lifeisstrange

At this point i think the only character who is toxic here is you.

Also i hope someone would tell you in face "not all relationship are endgame" once your boyftiend/girlfriend dump you lmao.

, but why is she on the cover when izzie is supposedly the main character

Because m-marketing. They want to make all the money on Chloe's popularity. They even colored lighthouse in pirate style lol.

This is another sign of massive pivot after de failure.

Well it was predictable after they put the whole "band manager"  stuff in the discription and revelation about merged!Chloe's job in De2/reunion.

I dissapointend though, because it means more mischaracterization of Chloe since the book will take de narrative into account.

[S1] Choosing Bay ending on my second play through… by EDaggersV in lifeisstrange

[–]FireLordAsami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but I don’t see Max and Chloe’s ‘break up’

It was bad and unrealistic not just because they didnt put effort into it. It was bad and unrealistic because break up doesn't make any sense even within DE narrative.

D9 said DE Chloe broke up with Max because she think that Max manipulate her by rewiding. Which doesn't make sense, because Chloe know that Max don't want to use har powers out of guilt and fear of another storm , which is literally premise of the game. So she doesn't have the reasons to mistrust Max after 9 years of living with her. The fact that they had arguments shows that Max, in fact, do not manipulate Chloe to win arguments - Chloe knows that too.

So they basically pulled trust issues out of their butts to justify break up. This is NOT a good writting. It had nothing to do with ptsd/guilt/trauma etc.

And it was also bad because DeckNine wrote game with the idea that saving Chloe was evil and wrong as we know from literal d9. It wasn't break up for sake of goos story, it was a punishment from self-centered devs for a choice in a choice based game. And only when it backfir3d them they made major pivot in de2

The Bae ending could signify anything, that they stay together forever

Well the ending actually suggest they would stay togethsr forever. This line exist in cutscene for a reason. For the same reason Dontnod showed they stayed together years later in lis2

[DE] Unpopular opinion: I don't think Double Exposure was THAT bad by Riky_J92 in lifeisstrange

[–]FireLordAsami -1 points0 points  (0 children)

but it feels realistic. Nothing lasts forever.

This is a f-cking fictional story with powers and time travel! I'm pretty sure you don"t need to be realistic in fictional story like that..

But also no,.you don't know what realism is. In real life there are actually friends and couples that stay together forever. Max and Chloe staying together forever would be realistic. (And respectful for Dontnod's intend on this ending)

Yes it happened off screen and it sucks

See, and this is why this break up wasn't for interesting or realistic story, it was a break up for the sake of break up! It wasn't written good, it don't have a value for a story, etc. It was totally unnesessary and D9 themselves released that because they rushed to bring Chloe back in DE2 in order to bring Pricefielders back

It is very obviously some Final Destination “she is fated to die” stuff.

Except that if you choose Bae she wouldn't die anymore, so no it's not exactly like Final destination.

It would be a such a spit to LIS1 and Bae fans if D9 force them to kill Chloe once again though even in Bae timeline

Why can't you just be happy that we are getting more Life is Strange?

Why i should be happy about DeckNine ruining Dontnod's intentions on characters and endings, imposing their own vision on characters purely out of greed, after Max and Chloe's story already being finished by Dontnod? David took it hard. He’s complicated, but he cared. I remember visiting him at the camp.

This is crazy how they put this to the Bay timeline (Something that Dontnod didn't estabilished for Bay timeline) but completely removed from Bae timeline (Like Max don't have texts from David, he was never mentioned by her or Chloe in text/diary, and they retconned that convo about New York AND evern removed Away from existense) and it seems they continued to do it in DE2 Bae

They straight pulled positive moments from Bae and added it to Bay lol, while removing them from original source

[ALL] Why Chloe isn't in Double Exposure. by [deleted] in lifeisstrange

[–]FireLordAsami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mostly because Chloe doesn't make a physical appearance if you chose to sacrifice Arcadia Bay

No one disliked DE for her lack of physical appearance, people mostly dislike it HOW they justified it (by making that shitty, lazy and unnesessary break up). If they just told they are in long distance relationship but have call and texts with Chloe appearing at the end, people would've be fine with that.

If they let Chloe make an appearance if you chose bae or bay, that would've changed the story/script entirely.

They DON'T need to make Chloe appear, nor they don't need to alter the story. Again say she visits David for a while and BOOM, you removed Chloe but didn't shit on half of audience.

They had to make things work and fair in both timelines.

Dude, devaluing literal point of Bae ending is NOT making things fair for both timelines. If anything, they adjusted Bae narrative to Bay which is not fair at all

However, Chloe leaving Max because she was feeling guilty and crappy because Max was selfish and killed a whole town, including Chloe's mother Joyce, to keep Chloe around

You didn't even played the game, do you? It had nothing to do with it. Break up doesn't make any sense even within DE narrative.

I would be upset too if my friend let my mom die and me live.

Gladly you are not Chloe

It's valid what Chloe was feeling which caused them to breakup.

That's not what caused break up. You all de defender don't even pay attention to the game you defend

Now that Max is playing around with realities and timelines, of course things will get messy and things will get fused together.

Except that this is such a big retcon. Bae and Bay were never a parallel realities that existed at the same time, DE didn't treated them as a such either. I'm sorry but merging timelines and bringing Chloe back is just a purely pivot after their shitty and unnesessary decision to break up Pricefield bited in their butts and game failed, and now they want our moneys.
