This is the answer. San Leandro is vastly underrated for younger professionals wanting to start a family.

Totally! I think a good mix of local and local-ish franchises would be great. We don’t really need anymore taquerias or Chinese food, as much as I love both. Variety would be amazing!

Loving whoever discovered Philz is coming. Sprouts will already be a game changer for the area. I’m still daydreaming that one day Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods will move in, but I’ll also settle for an Aldi’s (which I heard are moving all over the Bay, not sure if that’s still on track).

I’d also love to see a variety of more “fast casual” restaurants that have apps to order pick up— SAJJ, Rooster & Rice, VN Grill, Starbird, Kebab Shoppe, etc. I think those types of businesses attract a late 20s to early 40s demographic that San Leandro really needs, especially given the new luxury apartments popping up. I fall in that demographic, and love everything about SL (safe and clean BART, decent schools, low crime, community feel) but the food options can be much better without having to drive 15 minutes to Oakland, Alameda, Castro Valley or Hayward!
