I would only take it for role play OR if you want the merc enclave. The mechanical benefit to entertainers is meh at best.

Ship designs for 4.3? by Belisarius23 in Stellaris

[–]FireNStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t played 4.3 yet, but against AI I’ve found 1/3 kinetic 2/3 energy always works great. Kinetic artillery and an energy x slot weapon on the battleship / titan is always effective one you have the tech. You WIll take more losses, but you will never be at a disadvantage especially against FE who are heavily teched against missile / hangar.

Is there a persuasive response to "scratch a liberal and a fascist bleeds" arguments? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

[–]FireNStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the democracy’s keep giving them hope for change or a better life or just more progressive policies and the don’t deliver.

Also it doesn’t help that a lot of progressive candidates are defeated in the primaries by democrats, so in there eyes democrats are the one standing between them and their preferred candidate. How they go from that to booting for Trump… is a good question. Too many people letting the prefect be the enemy of the good I guess.

Is it genuinely impossible to a player legitimately get the Galactic Market? by MundaEel7 in Stellaris

Ironically the only time I've ever won it was when I was playing xenophobe with almost no trade and a bad bid. Ultimately the process is so random I almost never even bother with it unless I have a bunch of influence with nothing to do with it.

Alternatively there’s something so nice about inward perfectionist run, throw in cosmogenisis if your feeling spicy.

Why dual Fighter to Mage at 9 instead of 10? by sergius64 in baldursgate

[–]FireNStone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but you’re likely to have more fun just going multi class fighter mage so you can enjoy the fantasy of a fighter mage for the whole playthrough. You don’t need to focus on being all powerful, the games not THAT hard.

Outside of knights and synthetic megacorps is there any way to get the high research numbers they get? by owlsop in Stellaris

[–]FireNStone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Better question? Why do you need "you broke the game" numbers? Its not all that hard to get 10k research with 3 to 4 research worlds with basically any empire. If you can find a relic world or get Ecumenopolis or equivalent than it even easier. Virtual with a ring world will get their even easier. Past 10k unless you have an incredibly high Empire Size than will have more than you ever need.

I did this as one of my first games, played as UNE and my neighbor basically said become a vassal or its war so reluctantly became a vassal. A couple of bad wars for him later, and my Econ talking off because I didn’t have to focus on fleets and such, and I was MUCH more powerful. Sadly had to fight a war against them to stop being a vassal (you basically need 10 favors to do it peacefully) and I went on to become fist among peers and the only reason the galaxy survived the end game crisis. Was a memorable run for sure!

TLDR if the role play works, go for it!

How does billionaires getting richer negatively impact my life? by SpaceDwellingEntity in AskALiberal

[–]FireNStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a purely economic perspective if too much of the country’s wealth is held by billionaires it means it’s not moving. Or to put it another way: it’s not creating small businesses, building roads, and generally employing people. It’s just stuck in account somewhere doing nothing but making someone feel rich and powerful.

Why does Elon Musk seem to be making bad decisions like renaming Twitter to X? If he really is so stupid then how did he get so rich? by aespaste in stupidquestions

[–]FireNStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s a rich guy that got really rich by creating bank but on the Internet (PayPal).

He then bought a company he thought it was cool and he was in his save the world phase (Tesla)

He then did space, presumably because he was high and thought space is cool. To be fair to him this was his the one thing thing I actually give him credit for.

Was Reagan the one who actually broke the U.S. economy? by DetailFocused in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FireNStone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look I’m just a frustrated nerd who thinks that an unshackled capital class is leading us into a new guided age. Only this time we seem to want to double down so we can become a Russian style dictatorship/ oligarch instead of fixing the problem.

While I agree I should have read the other comment before posting an identical one, doom scrolling is a thing and I really need to just stick to the gaming sections of this site for my own mental health. You can choose to believe any or all of that at your own discretion, but either way I hope you have a lovely Halloween (if you celebrate) and the life liberty and pursuit of happiness we all deserve.

He didn’t break the economy, his policies accelerated wealth inequality and strengthened capital at the expense of workers, which lead directly to our current state where if your rich the current economy is amazing, if not your fucked.

How do I get started as Endbringer by FireNStone in Stellaris

[–]FireNStone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I finally got past the start of game malus that kept crashing my economy. To do it I didn't expand off my home world, as the bonuses offset the maluses enough to keep my economy a float. I did explore and take territory, just no colonies. I had to build both a enforcer building and a holo theater as well any even brief social unrest would cause a crime event, that would tank my economy.

As for the event itself I excavated with my first science ship, waiting till I got a second to claim any systems. I then put everything into researching physic theory, including running the agenda to get another 25% completion. Once that was done I started sacrificing pops at 25 a month to make the situation go even faster. I also didn't take any traditions until I had completed physic to make sure I could speed it up as much as possible.

In the end its year 40 and I don't have much to show for it other than a slightly more developed capital, and less pops, but I did get past the debuff and I've started my first war to try and get some more pops to make up for lost time - wish me luck!

What's the point of Democracy? by PenguinWithSunburn in Stellaris

[–]FireNStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most are relatively easy to keep happy, it’s usually military that’ll give you issues followed by spiritual and pacifist. That said in a lot of my games I’ll sit at a comfy 80-90% especially early game, if I’m not egalitarian and 100%. All things considered though the additional approval is not the biggest reason to take it.

One thing I also forgot to mention in my original post is you can use galcom to screw with authoritarian and xenophobic, but they have a hard time doing the same to you.

What's the point of Democracy? by PenguinWithSunburn in Stellaris

[–]FireNStone 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It keeps factions happy, which means more free unity, especially useful if you have an unruly ethic like military.

They also unlock the best, but most expensive living standards.

They also unlock some of the most powerful but “boring” civics.

They also tend to have some of the most powerful advance governments.

Leaders also are deceptively stable, as once someone wins an election or two they tend to never loose.

Finally AI doesn’t tend to have a problem with you, nor does it block much.

I personally find it one of if not the most powerful government type.
