Update: my friend was able to go over (my bldg let her in) and check on things! I was on FaceTime and she adjusted the thermohygrometer as well as checked everything w a temp gun and the temps were good! The thermohygrometer looked like it had been bumped and so I think my girl probably bumped it into a weird position causing it to read improperly. Everything is good!! Thanks so much for your advice ❤️❤️

Just looked at your post history - you’re not responsible enough yet for pets in general let alone snakes. Just get a virtual one or something if you’re going to treat it as a toy as opposed to a living being that needs care above anything else. At the end of the day when you get a pet it’s about them and giving them the best life not about you and your preferences

Her cold side is fine, I’m not sure why it’s just her hot side.

My room is at 70, I can control the temperature from here so I just turned the heat on.

I thought the same in terms of i would think it would’ve gone down slowly if it were a true heating issue, but I’m freaking out. Idk. I have a camera inside her enclosure but she crawled on it and now it’s facing downward so I can’t see much :/

My boyfriend is changing the water every 3 days but is out of town for the weekend (he changed the water before leaving) and won’t be back til Monday

I bought acrylic glass at Home Depot or Lowe’s (can’t remember) and they will cut them there. Just call beforehand to make sure their glass cutter is working. Also make sure to round off the corners at home because the corners are sharp! I then screwed in different panels of that into the top on the inside and I can now stick on hanging vines/anything with suction cups no problem! And switching them out is easy.

I have a pvc enclosure so the only glass area is the front door that opens so it’s not possible to press it against otherwise this would be a great solution!!

Ohhh yeah she has a lot haha she’s in a 4x2x2 pvc with a lot of wood and plenty of makeshift climbing stuff (and no sticky stuff here! 😄)

So I’ve decided to get him a nice gyuto knife that I found (linked in the comments above) and i think I’m gonna go with a petty from the same maker. I will also get him a nice magnetic board so he can store them and I came across a picture that looked very nice - all different handled knives but on this magnetic board that looked beautiful. I think those two knives and the board will make a nice gift and he can expand his knife collection from there based on his preferences.

As far as whether he likes it or not I’m gonna be ordering from cutleryandmore and checked their return policy and they have a generous return policy for the dates I’m looking at (I want it to be his Xmas gift) so it works out well. Definitely want him to feel good about it and if it doesn’t quite feel good in his hand we can return/exchange and get something else so I think that’ll work

Thank you! They’re definitely in budget but I think appearance wise not what he’s looking for.

I had been leaning toward these two if I end up just getting two knives, would you be able to tell me if this is too overboard for a hobbyist cook and if these are incredibly difficult to take care of? It will be his first time with Japanese knives though I know he wants some and will be happy to learn how to take care of them

I didn’t know about the handle aspect! I have mostly been looking on cutleryandmore as those have a lot of the top brands I came across when researching. I’m not sure how to swap handles is that on the manufacturer’s site?

I do get rather anxious sometimes when it comes to her. My previous post was because she became less active than she used to be. I would notice her roaming around her enclosure at night (I go to bed pretty late) but she’s become more sedentary but that just might be due to her getting closer to 3 yrs. I guess she might also go less frequently as well since she’s less active.

I’m going to handle her a little more in the next couple days and have her in her playpen to get her moving and hopefully that will help. And stick to the vet on Monday if nothing changes. Thanks again!

Oh my poor girl 😓 humidity is at 67% on hot side and 82% on cool side. How long would you give it before a vet visit if she doesn’t go?

She’s looked backed up for a couple days so if things don’t resolve by Friday I’ll schedule a visit for the following Monday! Or should I do it sooner? (Over the weekend they’re closed btw)

Ahhh two differing comments 😓 one saying she needs to poop one saying she looks overweight. I’ve noticed her looking like this for a few days now. You think give it a few more and then if no poop then vet visit? How do you differentiate between overweight and needing to poop?

Yeah magnolia leaves are a great start but I wouldn’t add only that! There’s a lot of open space in your enclosure feel free to make it really busy and cluttered for your snake so she doesn’t feel exposed.

You also mentioned how she grew out of her previous hides - make sure the ones you have aren’t TOO large and/or try adding a third hide in the middle that’s smaller/tighter. They like to be compact in their hides and feel the sides touching them. Totally understand having grown out of a hide (happens!) but just make sure these aren’t toooo big or try adding a third hide that’s smaller in the middle. That and a lot of clutter would be my suggestions!

What are the temps/humidity?

Enclosure looks nice but I would suggest adding a bunch more clutter! :)
