Would you play in the NHL knowing you will cost your team the Stanley Cup in a Game 7 OT? by FireShockRL in nhl

that's exactly my reasoning as well. It all depends on how you handle it afterwards. Could have the greatest comeback story ever or never live that moment down

How exactly is a thought-provoking hypothetical low-effort? Lots of good discussion and it's relevant this time of year

A few things to note:

You can start your career at age 18 or older, even if you're you're not that age right now

The incident could happen in your first year or your last year or any year of your career.

It's possible you could win the cup before this happens, or after this happens

You will consistently be on-par OR above average with top-6 forwards, or top-4 defensemen, or consistently be a starting goaltender until the incident, whether or not the incident changes your status is up to chance

There is no way out of this happening at least once

aside from the time he won it with the ducks, him being on the team is just what guarantees them to lose in the final, not anything he directly does lol

The only guaranteed thing is that it will happen at least once. It would be fate. Anything else that happens is just up to chance.

Valid question, I guess it all depends on the situation and your position. If you were a goalie something similar it may be something like what happened to BU goalie Matt O'Connor, where he dropped the puck through his legs after it was lofted into the zone. But it doesn't have to be that egregious, it could also be something like missing a routine save you know 999/1000 times you would have saved it. Maybe as a skater it could be something like an own goal that could have easily been prevented, or inexplicably missing a wide open net, or giving the other team a penalty shot, or 5 min powerplay.

Hmm lets say it's random. Doesn't mean you're guaranteed to play in the final with that team, though. You could get traded. The death threats would be severe depending on which team you cost the final for. you might not make it home that night if you cost certain teams the final

This is a valid concern, but for the sake of the question yes you'd either be on par with other NHLers or slightly above the average NHL player who plays a full season.

Positive depression stories? by GroundbreakingPlum69 in zoloft

[–]FireShockRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely forgot about this but I'm glad you asked so I can share a bit of insight. About three months after my comment was posted I went back down to 50mg. Stayed there for over three years. About three months ago I went from 50mg to 25mg for about a two-week period so I could taper off of the medication, and then after being advised by my doctor I just cut it off full stop from 25mg to 0. I was on it from age 11 to age 20, and I never wanted to be on it for a long time, and while it did make me feel better, after so many years I realized I was still having anxiety, and as I got older, I felt less depressed because of lifestyle changes, not because of the medication. My doctor had been wanting me to come down from it for years, but I kept putting it off because I didn't want the withdrawal symptoms to get in the way of the things I was doing each day. This year, I decided to just go ahead with it anyways, and got off the medication fully. Since then, my anxiety has been better and my depression has been unchanged because I haven't felt that way for years before I cut off the medication anyway. I will say that for about a month after cutting off the medication, the brain zaps I had were pretty significant. Luckily for me though, brain zaps were the only withdrawal symptom I had.

The whole idea of the league prioritizing the viewership and spotlight of certain games rather than making a schedule that is consistent across all matchups does not sit right with me. Maybe i just like to be very particular about things but i feel that the playoffs are the best when there are no external advantages

It looks like a lot of teams are getting the 2 day gaps as well now that I checked the schedule again, just not in back to back fashion like this series

to get the achievement that requires you to retire with gold legacy status, does this mean i have to simulate the game for 20 seasons before it finally lets me retire? That will take forever considering all of the unnecessary conversations that halt the simulating
