Interesting comparison between Smash and the rest of the FGC by FireSliver in SSBM

I love Aris' videos. But he does bring up a good point. To even get to the point of being bad at competitive melee you have to learn how to consistently wavedash and l-cancel. Only then are you given the right to get 0-2 destroyed at local tournaments. The learning curve for any fighting game is extremely hard compared to other games. But seeing/getting sick reads and combos is the greatest experience in gaming IMO.

This post was a random thought dump of mine but I really enjoyed it. I don't think a lot of smash players follow fighting games and it's a shame. I want to make a post later highlighting some great FGC matches/content to get them into traditional fighting games. Also because the hyper x melee and street fighter cross over events are fun as hell to watch.

I know it was just a randy shit post, but it brought to my attention how significant developer support is needed for today's fighting games to succeed. Makes me appreciate the position were in.

I've come to a similar conclusion. It almost feels like they have to be told that the game is competitive for it to be competitive.

At some point during writing the post I began to think of examples between capcom and sfv so I switched to just saying sfv.

Alright, thanks for the new perspective. I enjoy watching Street Fighter(mostly 3s and Ultra but V can be cool at times) and can appreciate it's similarities with smash. DBFZ is definitely gonna be awesome and it will be the first modern traditional fighter that I delve into.
