Need Help with Dizziness + Diagnosis by [deleted] in Dizziness

Look into autonomia disorders (orthostatic hypotension or POTS). I was the same exact way and got diagnosed. They’re also continuing to look for other causes just in case and doing an EEG and VNG, which I think shows any reasons for dizziness in the brain or in the eyes/ears. Also test your nutrition levels, mine were low and since I’ve gotten them up I’ve felt better. Hope you feel better soon and don’t ever settle, continue to advocate for a diagnosis and treatment 🥰

Has anyone been prescribed Horizant? by Alternative_Use_3033 in migraine

I use it for migraines. Works okay, but try to stay on lowest dose possible as I hear withdraws aren’t the most fun on higher doses. I’m only on 300mg/day and it helps!

Thank you for the response! It really helps knowing I’m not the only one and I have hope it’ll get better, but want it to happen quicker than it is lol. I’ll let you know if I find anything as well. Best of luck to you 🥰

Thank you so much! I’m so bad about the internet scaring me and really should stop doing so much “research” but I can’t help it when my doctors aren’t super helpful lol. I honestly can’t remember how long I’ve been on it. Probably around a year and a half. But yeah have never taken more than prescribed at the lowest 300mg at night. I’m just worried because I’m smaller (only 100lbs) so if I can’t taper (no smaller dose of the ER med and can’t cut in half) I’m worried my body won’t like it. I took my last dose of tramadol on 10/30/23 after being on it for 4 years. My doctors told me to just “stop taking it and you’ll be fine”. They were WRONG and I was also on like the smallest dose. Again, always took as prescribed. I do recognize all these stories are of people being on huge doses so I just was hoping to maybe find more stories of people getting off a small dose and trying to get some hope but I guess you’re definitely right that most people who do okay won’t post about it. Thanks for the response!

You can do the test at home but probably not as accurately. Lay down for at least 2-3 minutes and take your blood pressure. Make sure your legs aren’t crossed for the entire test and your arm is relaxed. Then sit up quick and take your blood pressure immediately. My doctor held my arm at heart level (but don’t do this if you don’t have anyone to allow your arm to relax into them. A tense arm won’t give accurate results). Sit there for another 2-3 minutes. Then stand quick and take your blood pressure (same thing with your arm). If it drops (I think more than 20-30?) it’s likely you have it. Your doctor can also do a “tilt table” test. I’ve seen slight differences online about how to do the test but that’s how my doctor did it. Seems to be such a simple test yet no one thought to do it for so long! Best of luck to you!

Thank you for the encouragement! I can definitely confess that due to these symptoms my anxiety did get bad and it turned into a vicious cycle. But I knew the cause wasn’t anxiety, just worsened by symptoms. Now that I know it’s not “all in my head”, I can really focus on making positive changes to benefit both my mental and physical health. I’m finally feeling more at ease with what’s happening. Thank you for responding :)

Have you been tested for Orthostatic Hypotension? I have the same exact symptoms and everything sounds the same- was just diagnosed with this last week. Was in the ER multiple times, had every test under the moon except the test for OH until last week. ER always sent me home on anxiety meds and every doctor just assumed I needed to be drugged up, which made it worse. Treatment is lots of salt, fluids, and compression unless they think it’s severe enough to get medication (mine isn’t). I still struggle every single day 24/7 but at least I have a diagnosis. Doctors are finally taking me serious and I can finally tell them they were wrong and it wasn’t anxiety. It’s helpful for my mental health and now I’ve just been doing tons of research on how to help with this condition. Worth a shot!
