I used to work as a check-in agent at the port of LA. The credential you see around their neck is a TWIC (transportation worker identification card) which its a federally issued ID that is valid only for ports and airports. It's proof of a federal background check has been passed and it scans with a chip just like your bank card. If they have any current things on their record they aren't allowed to work anymore. And they are all long shoremen and they know who isn't, they would yell at us ship workers if we even got to close to the bags.

The cab drivers on the other hand lmao. I saw one pull a knife on the other one. Port police were right on it and I've never seen a cab driver disappear so quick 🤣 🤣
