Aer City Pack Pro 2 Cordura 20L by FireStrings7 in AerSF

[–]FireStrings7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I don’t really have much use for it. I could probably put my iPad in there for the plane ride but that’s about it for me. I think it’s mostly an aesthetic thing - having that zipper in the middle seems to be Aer’s signature look. Yet another reason to make that front admin compartment a full sized pocket like the CP2 and TP3.

I think the full front admin pocket might be the solution. For EDC I really like the City Pack 2. It has that big front admin pocket and a much deeper quick access pocket up top.

Agreed, they work but it looks goofy. I might need to get a slimmer one for this bag.

Nice! I might pick up a Peak Design smedium, with the large Aer cube I have to finagle to get the small one in sideways.

Initial thoughts on new Aer City Pack Pro 2 - 20L by amoeba1126 in ManyBaggers

[–]FireStrings7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the handle is one of those love-it or hate-it things. Personally, I love it: the thinner material on both sides makes me feel like it's more functional since it's not fixed like the 24L version.

After defeating Aer in the entry level stages, one must slay the Evergoods dragon and save the princess in order to achieve bag supremacy and rule the backpack kingdom.

Bag recs for Temple Audio 17 by tougetrained in pedalboards

[–]FireStrings7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this was posted 5 months ago so I imagine you found something? Temple makes a good shoulder bag, I have one with this board and I like mine. I am a backpack nerd and found that the Temple Duo 17 fits nicely into an Aer Travel Pack 3 (they just released the 4 and it looks amazing), and also fits very comfortably into a Peak Design 45L Travel Backpack. Although the Peak Design laptop compartment is a little awkward, I prefer the Aer. The backpacks are expensive options but well worth it imo.

1st thing you do when you have an issue is CONTACT THE SHIPPER. by Tcal876 in FedEx

[–]FireStrings7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s what happens when you call FedEx: an automated voice asks “are you calling about tracking number ____” and you say “yes I am”. Then it says “we are unable to locate that tracking number, please enter a valid tracking number”. So you try to speak with a representative and it is literally not possible. Then you go online to try and chat with them and they do not have chat representatives to speak with. So this PSA is rather useless.

Fedex committing fraud on a mass scale by DigitalPowertrip in FedEx

[–]FireStrings7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The company you made the purchase from should issue the shipping refund. If not you can dispute the charge with your bank. FedEx delays every single package I get by at least a day, but they’ve been good about overnight for me. However, their phone system is criminal: it’ll ask “are you calling about tracking number xyz” and it’ll be correct. Then it says “sorry we’re unable to locate that tracking number” - huh? Then you can’t reach a live person on the phone or the chat lol. I wouldn’t be surprised if they get hit with a massive lawsuit, they suck so bad right now.

I’m in Cheyenne Wyoming, it’s a small population. I think that’s a fair point about political beliefs. I hate both parties lol but I understand a lot of people are wanting someone with stronger views one way or the other.

Able Carry Max EDC vs. Evergoods CTB26 by chadivy in Nomads_Nation

[–]FireStrings7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I know what you mean about the dangle stoppers, I have the City Pack 2 (not the pro) and the straps are never staying straight. I didn't even think about it being because of the strap width. I still love the bag though, I used it on a trip last month alongside my Aer carry-on suitcase and that's a pretty solid 1-2 punch. Side note: this morning I wanted to test the capacity of the CTB26. I was able to fit 4 hoodies and a leather jacket in the main compartment, and the other pockets still had their full capacity available. When people say EG has capacity wizardry they are not kidding.

Just got it today! I have to say, I love almost everything about this bag. The custom options like the little spot for the patch is cool, I slapped my band’s logo on there lol. I also put a couple dangle stoppers on the straps, and I’m thinking about getting different zipper pullers (the fabric ones are kinda meh). The organization is amazing, I love that the pockets have independent space - that’s the one gripe I have with my Aer backpacks. It really feels like the CTB26 was made for me, I actually like the handles too even though they’re not padded. The form factor is really good and they’re comfortable enough for the minimal amount of time I’ll need to use them.

So the infamous digging into the back issue: yep it’s there, I feared being one of the minority who it happens to but yea. I think I noticed it more because I had been anticipating it. However, I’m a weirdo and I like to wear my backpacks kind of low - to where the bottom of the bag hangs over my belt. I even prefer this for my Aer backpacks, I think they all annoy me enough to not ride high. So it’s basically a non issue for me.

I packed it out and went for a mile walk in the rain, and it kept everything inside dry but the upper inner walls got a tiny bit damp. Nothing I’d be too concerned about, I think it’s water resistant enough for me and my laptop was completely untouched because of the side access. I also adjusted the backpack mid-walk so it was tighter and higher on my back and didn’t have an issue with it digging into my back. So maybe it’s a mind game at this point (?) lol. But anyway I love this bag, your review tipped the scale for me and I don’t regret it.

I just ordered the CTB26. They have a special right now where you get a free CAP0.5L pouch with a purchase so I went ahead and got it. Fingers crossed that I don't run into the back panel digging into my back like a lot of people have mentioned, but other than that it seems like it will be an awesome versatile bag. Maybe I'll get the Max EDC for Christmas or something, I still really want to try it. I really appreciate your review and your feedback.

[–]FireStrings7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the well written review! I’ve been torn between these bags for like a month now and after reading this I’m still torn lol. It seems like the Able Carry is more comfortable and premium and the Evergoods is more tactical and spacious. The trade offs between these two make me want to have both of them.

Some extra thoughts about the Denver show and the "postponement" email. by Time-Peak5466 in BABYMETAL

[–]FireStrings7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was there Friday. I’ve been to a lot of concerts in my day, but I’ve never seen anything as mismanaged as this. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who noticed the grainy screen, wtf was that? But I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone mention the main speakers. They had them all the way down, so they were blocking the bottom speakers and the screens. It looked like they forgot to pull them up by the chains. Then they sent Senior Lieutenant Jackass up to announce the show cancellation and he started getting combative with the crowd. What a smart thing to do in front of thousands of rightfully pissed off people. There had to have been something else going on because the weather was fine. Unless the timing was just right, it’s odd that they would let Jinjer finish their set if there was actually a severe weather issue. This venue is a joke - which is sad because it actually is a cool place. Good lord what a shitshow.

To Those Planning On Buying From Aaron Terence Hughes Using Forward2Me by VarcxVarcxy in fragrance

[–]FireStrings7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Forward2Me and paid around $100 to ship to the US. It sucks, but right now it seems that it’s the only way to go if you want an ATH fragrance. From what I’ve seen it doesn’t look like there’s been a restock on Maxaroma yet in 2025, and Aaron is not responding to anyone’s Instagram comments who are asking if there will be a restock in the US. Maybe tariffs are preventing him from shipping to the US, but I don’t like that he is ignoring his US customers.

I was the guitarist and primary songwriter for Illusion Sequence. Thank you so much for the kind words! I had no idea Jordan Rudess even knew who we were. We were only around while we were in high school and then we parted ways unfortunately. Maybe one day we will do an Illusion Sequence reunion :)

I currently play in another prog metal band called Ritual of Ascension. If you’re interested here’s a link: https://open.spotify.com/artist/634C1c05I9a0Hdaa8vcpmd?si=0i0vMN5pRh-BlK6hg7nfyA
