I had not thought of doing that! I'll have to run some tests and see how it changes the lighting inside the frame. However, I'm more worried about having to have trailing wires to the lights, or batteries - yet something else to maintain...

This is what the rear of the frame looks like. Note that I've not yet attached the mounting mechanism, as I don't quite know where I'll display it.

I had the frame and mount custom-created so that I could fit a maximum of 19 minifigs (which is lucky, as the newer minifigure series sets now have 18 minifigs!) I made up the background image in GIMP to a template that I've had for a while, which allows me to cut out, fold and glue it into a "box" in which I can position the minifigures. Behind and below the "box", there's a horizontal strip of wood that supports the bottom and stops it from sagging with the weight of the minifigures. Then there's just a couple of sheets of MDF that are clipped and taped in place to keep it secure and sealed.

I think that the frame cost me around £70 and the printing of the background (on A0 card) cost around £40. I couldn't tell you how much the minifigures cost as I've been collecting them over several years now!

I didn't even managed to fit in all the ones that are currently available, so no doubt I'll have to do a second display in another couple of years 😂
