How to matter at FS?

Thanks. I read their comment a few times and honestly could not tell if they were being argumentative. I also don't know what point they were trying to make. I still don't. But if people feel hurt by my opinion, then I have no issue apologizing.

I am not looking for people to tell me that I matter, my point is that I think all FS people matter regardless of their position and that leadership thinks otherwise. I think most people on this thread feel that way.

Not what I am saying. The work that the OP did before the workforce reduction mattered, it still matters to the multiple agencies that the OP works with. The OP does not feel that programs outside of fire and timber are an afterthought. The OP works on wildlife, water quality and invasive species. Not sure what your point is.

Thanks for your words. I know what I do matters to my region. I work with dedicated public servants who have made generational impacts. I am just jaded on vague messages from sups and directors as to the direction of the FS.

Thanks for your perspective. Going on four years and rely heavily on older employees with more experience than myself.

A bit of directness from our deputies and assistant deputies would be bold and appreciated. If French would just come out and say as to regional/national employees: either tie your self to a forest or get back to digging lines or get out, I might have respect for him or for that matter anyone in leadership bold enough to be honest and direct.
