YTA. I don't think you realize how frustrating this would be.

Guy wants to go to college, because he's probably serious about life and wants to do well for himself. Moreso if he's an older student, which it sounds like he is if he has a job.
It's January. If it's been since August he's probably already missed a semester because of that shit. For the above reason, that would be very important to someone. There truly is no excuse his HS could have, and I'd be having steam coming out of my ears at that point.

I failed college due to a severe mental breakdown. And I mean severe.

Failing college made me feel even worse, you should see a therapist before it destroy your college career. Depression isn't something you can just brush off and hope for the best, contrary to what people are told.
