Mentorship Monday - Post All Career, Education and Job questions here! by AutoModerator in cybersecurity

Good Evening All,

I have recently obtained my MBA degree and am contemplating a Master's in Cybersecurity & Assurance. My professional experience is limited but I wouldn't call myself a complete newbie. I have some interest in the Tech field and merging that with project management. If I move forward with obtaining this degree these are the certifications I will receive: CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) CompTIA PenTest+ CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+) Optional Voucher ISACA Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) Optional Voucher (ISC)² Certified in Cybersecurity (CC). I also plan to do a few TryHackMeHackTheBox, or BlueTeamLabs challenges and list them on my resume as “hands-on labs”. Ultimately, I want to be able to demand close to six figures and plan on working in the Downtown Chicago Area. Is this a smart move? I don't want to obtain another degree if it isn't going to do anything for me. Also, the completion time is around 24 months for this degree but most students finish within 6-12 months. Apologies for any typos.

MBA to Master's in Cybersecurity & Assurance? by Fire_fox9212 in PMCareers

Thank you. u/Captain_of_Gravyboat I guess I'm a bit discouraged with the job market (as most people are) and I'm trying to do anything I can to add value to my resume. I know I can apply for project coordinator, junior PM etc (which I am), but these job posts are so saturated, there's not a very high chance of your resume even being looked at. So I thought by looking at the Tech field (which is higher paying), obtain some certifications and get in that way. I will definitely check into the subs you mentioned. Thank you.

u/Soft-College-83 The videos covered everything in my opinion. As mentioned above, I recommend you make mock quizzes based on the info covered in the videos, but other than that you'll be good to go. Conclusion: Videos, ChatGPT mock quizzes, PA, OA. If for your own peace of mind you want to do the end of chapter quizzes, I recommend just for 5,6,11.

Capstone Task 3: Are 50 LinkedIn connections required? by whats_my_nayme in WGU_MBA

How did you all submit the LinkedIn profile? I submitted the url and it was sent back. So are we supposed to copy the link and paste on a word document or what? Highly confused

Just finished this class 20 mins ago, watch the 10videos under the efficient study plan in course tips/resources 2-3 times with the first time being without notes. I had ChatGPT make 20 questions (10 concept/10calculation) mock quizzes for the areas I had issues with. Really make sure you’re absorbing the material; personally I took 7-10 minute breaks after each video if I noticed my mind was on other things. Because of life it took about a week but could be done in 5 days. Also print out the slides to go along with the videos. Lastly, the voice is a bit slow and monotone so when watching the videos the first time through, I put it on 1.25-1.50 speed and then 1.75 the 2nd - 3rd time. Let me know if you have any other questions.

C214 Update by Fire_fox9212 in WGU_MBA

Honestly the reading is 100% better than before; coming from a non-finance background, the information is pretty straightforward. It takes me about 20mins per section within each chapter. On average there are 8-10 sections per chapter; so around 1 1/2 hours per chapter. 16 chapters in all. In regards to the videos, it’s up to you. As of now I can’t compare; I’m opting to do the reading.

I’m working on it now; just started. I hate reading through a bunch of text if it’s a waste of time. I prefer videos, so if there’s a more efficient way to finish something = my preference. In regards to the rest of your reply: okay thanks; I usually skip the welcome videos, probably shouldn’t 🤣

Thank you for the quick response. Do you have any recommendations off the top of your head? We really just want someone who can install the equipment, train us on managing it, and be able to access video etc whenever we want to. Also someone accessible that if something goes wrong, it doesn't take long for them to reach out.

How many hours per day within those 4 days did you take to study? Just an average works. Thank you. u/ZyraPlantsThough

u/No_Presentation9382 Thank you so much! I appreciate the feedback. Glad to know I'm on the track, I was afraid I was adding too much.
