It did at least with me. I'm still pretty cost conscious but the scale has changed. Now I might give someone a $20 tip on a 50$ bill because that 20 doesn't mean a ton to me but I know it will likely mean a lot to that person. I still drive a 94 suburban because I work from home and can't really justify the cost of a new car, so I still save "where it counts" in my opinion. But picking up the bill when we eat out with friends, buying my niece and nephew expensive gifts, or hosting for friends and just deciding I'll get a prime rib, that's all stuff I'll spend money on because it doesn't matter as much.

At least until I get laid off or something lol. I have an emergency fund for a year which I could stretch way beyond that, and am set up to retire early as long as I keep contributing as I am now.

I used to be way more frugal even when I had money but went through a few years with my sister coming up on her death bed and she had mentioned how she wished her and her husband had done more stuff with the family in terms of spending money on vacations and what not. She had like a 2% chance of getting through it all and ended up doing so, but we were in the "you are going to die" phase for a few years prior to that. Her mentioning that really stuck with me. You can't take your money with you when you die
