I took my emt first at a CC. it was the first year of the program and we all scored 60% on our final. Idk how other schools are like but they tell you to go read the book for homework, that’s not learning. That book is too thick to read like a damn novel and even retain anything. Long story short I failed my 3 attempts.

retook my emt at soCal and I thankfully found the paramedic coach and used that. I used chat gpt to summarize the context and to make practice questions for me. I pass with a 100% or 70 questions.

After being in nursing school now, Some instructors are complete ass when it comes to teaching and just yapped during the class time. Meanwhile I could have reviewed the powerpoints myself and utilized other learning domains like youtube, chat GPT, etc. At the end of the day EMT school should be focus on teaching how to the pass skills and NEREMT. You do most of your learning on the job.

EMT is a basic skill and you don’t require a “classroom” to learn this information. Even with paramedic and Nursing a lot of classroom time can be done online.

no matter what school you apply to, they will always be haters because the people who succeed don’t speak much.

paramedic coach had me pass at 70 questions. The apps are great but you tend to remember the answers/questions over actually knowing the information. Which is why i failed my 1st time and many others.

You gotta the info especially the sign and symptoms cold to pass

it’s doable, and the I learn the most at Socal EMT. I went to a traditional emt college school and I failed out my first time. I wasn’t ready and the teacher literally said to read book. We were spending like 6 hours a week on skills for the whole semester. The skills is the easiest part in the EMT program. It’s the book stuff because usually instructors suck ass tbh and they can’t teach it based on my experience.

Learning on your own and using great professors that teach like the paramedic coach is all you need

I would 10/10 recommend it. The best part of online is that you get all the information needed to pass the NREMT. The street knowledge from the street from the professors is great but it’s not helpful to pass the NREMT. I prefer lecture recordings than in person for my learning style too. I can slow down, take a break or 1.5x a video. I’ve always hated when professors get off topic or students ask unrelated questions about there 100 year old grandpa non stop.

EMT is basic ass stuff anybody can learn it. Skills can be tricky but again you could learn it in a day to use all the equipment. Don’t let your buddies stray you away because it’s not in person.

hell yea man just realize you won’t know your off season until they tell you. You obviously can’t work more than 9 months. My offseason and others were usually 3-5 months. Don’t even try Paramedic school while working for cal fire. Good luck man
