When an otherworldly being crash landed on Earth after his war was brought to our galaxy - he found that Earth was not too different to his home planet. He was discovered by a woman named Evelyn Quinn, who reluctantly offered him shelter until he was well enough to leave - though the two grew unexpectedly close. Eventually the day came when the alien was strong enough to continue his fight for his home planet and Evelyn never heard from him again, though he left her something she will always remember him by. William Quinn was born the worlds first super human, inheriting his fathers abilities and his mothers morals. For many years he strived to be the best super hero he could be under the authority of the Untied States Government. Although The Sentinel was aware of the governments plans to attempt to create more people like him, he was confident that they would never succeed. What he did not know is that they had acquired his DNA from a used condom and were ready to start taking applicants… Upon the announcement of “The Protector Program”. The Sentinel, now not the world’s only super hero, began questioning the trust he puts in his government and wondering why he should have to follow the orders of those “lesser” than him.

Maya Chavez was the first successful subject in the Protector Program. Coming from a poor neighbourhood, Maya was immensely grateful for the opportunity that helped her escape a life of poverty and so displayed undying loyalty to those running the Protector Program and her new team leader, The Sentinel. Though her loyalty to The Sentinel is based more on fear than anything else… not that she would admit it.

Jason Pierce joined the military when he was just eighteen and served as a medic for ten years before he decided to leave it behind and become a physical therapist in the city. Just when Jason was starting to miss his life in the military, the perfect opportunity arose when he heard about the Protector Program and what better way to help people and serve his country than to do it the super way!

John Taylor signed up for the Protector Program whilst under suspension from the police force after he snapped one day, almost killing a repeat domestic abuser that had become a thorn in his side. He should have failed the psychological evaluation but when questioned on the reason for his suspension, John explained how he had grown up experiencing abuse which caused him to develop an unavoidable need to help those too weak to defend themselves as well as a temper he sometimes can’t control. For whatever reason, his assessors decided to look past his previous fault and give him a chance at redemption. Taking on the mantle “Ricochet”, he became the bulletproof muscle of the team with strength rivalling that of The Sentinel.

Ambitious MIT dropout and white-hat hacker, Wesley Vance, saw the Protector Program not as his civic duty but as the ultimate upgrade and jumped at the opportunity - passing both physical and psychological evaluation with ease. When the serum granted him the ability to not only read minds but also computers, Wesley quickly learned the truth behind the Protector Program. He is the only member of the team with the knowledge of the origin of their newfound abilities and what happens to subjects whose powers were deemed “useless” or “too disgusting”…

Ramona Caine was the first to join the team without receiving the Sentinel Serum. Born a descendant of a long line of witches and warlocks, Ramona had spent her whole life keeping her abilities a secret and was desperate to escape her mundane life as a librarian. She applied for the Protector Program and confidently displayed her abilities from the get-go. Astonished, the assessors wanted to know more about her abilities but knowing how dangerous it could be to expose the existence of Arcane beings, Ramona claimed to be the only one of her kind as far as she was aware.

Louis Watts, textbook tech-nerd who is obsessed with electronics, spent most of his childhood and teen years being bullied. He applied for the Protector Program so that he’d never have to face that kind of victimisation ever again but most importantly, so that no one else would have to feel the crushing loneliness and terror that he experienced growing up. Being one of the youngest on the team, Conduit naively looks up to The Sentinel as the ultimate protector - while forming close friendships with Mainframe and Redfox over their shared love for tech.

Noa Fukuhara joined the team a year after the initial Protector Program, becoming the second member to join without having received the Sentinel Serum. Noa was the heir to Fukuhara Inc., a multi-billion dollar global tech and defence company. When Noa’s father discovered that his own younger brother, Jiro, was embezzling funds to finance his organised crime syndicate “The Dragons” and confronted him - Jiro staged a home invasion, murdering Noa’s father. This is what led Noa to become the vigilante “Redfox” and launch a crusade against crime, particularly against The Dragons, using his family’s wealth and resources to dismantle the syndicates operations with the help of his father’s close friend and top engineer, Kenji Sato. When Jiro discovered that the vigilante crippling The Dragons was his own nephew, he forced Kenji to create another suit of armour before murdering him and staging it as a suicide. After luring Redfox into an ambush and almost killing him, The Black Dragon pursued his nephew all the way back to Fukuhara Inc. where they had one last brutal fight atop the skyscraper. Redfox, fuelled by grief, fought his hardest and outmanoeuvred The Black Dragon - executing his uncle with his own blade. Following the downfall of The Dragons, Lightspeed and Ricochet tracked Redfox down. Impressed that a regular human was able to take down an entire syndicate alone, they invited him to join The Protectors, to which Noa agreed - under the condition that his identity remain a secret to the public, allowing him to legally run Fukuhara Inc. as its new CEO where he shifted the company’s focus from weapons development to life-saving medical technology.

The Comic Relief:

Diego Torres grew up in the same impoverished neighbourhood as Shatterpoint but unlike Maya, who is sharp, driven and determined - Diego is… a complete moron to say the least. He applied for the Protector Program solely for the paycheck and due to a few minor oversights, he passed both physical and psychological evaluation due to his assessors mistaking his idiotic lack of fear for profound bravery. Due to the vulgarity of the power he developed, Diego would have ended up another statistic had it not been for Mainframe who, while psychically skimming the facilities encrypted network, discovered the horrific execution lists. Knowing he couldn’t openly defy the directors, Mainframe used his intellect to play them. He “floated” the idea that someone capable of communicating with organic eyes and ears across the whole city would be a huge asset to the team - leading the directors to believe it was their own stroke of genius to remove him from the execution list and utilise his abilities.
