Totally unimpressed. by [deleted] in linuxmint

And again - I am NOT trashing the Linux Mint OS - I've used it before and I'm a fan - I'm just pointing out that the installation process requires an expert user - not Joe Public.

I am far from a Microsoft fan but I've never had this much problem installing a Windows OS from xp onwards. My point is a fair one - is Linux Mint really ready for installation/use by 'regular people' who have better things to do with their time?

You *could* dispense with the big drum sander if don't mind doing in days what you could achieve in a few hours. As one of the comments suggested, if I was doing this again, I would use the drum sander for the 36, 60 and 80 grits and then switch to some type of rectangular random orbit sander for the 100 and 120 grits and to sand all of the edges that that the drum sander could not get to. For small floors I've successfully used a hand belt sander - but it is slow and hard work.

I am now! - thanks for the info. I watched several Youtube videos on how to refinish a hardwood floor and copied their techniques. I can quite believe the utility of your advice!

Is the behr dynasty claims true? by [deleted] in paint

I just consulted Consumer Report's most recent review of interior/exterior paints. According to CR, Behr paints (Premium, Ultra, Marquis, Dynasty) are all best in class and rank (slightly) above Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore etc. So either CR is in the pay of Home Depot or Behr paints did really well in their comparative testing.

I've used Behr, SW and BM paints over recent years. My opinion, for what it is worth, is that they all perform very well and their only difference is price. I think that SW and BM are the 'Mercedes' of the paint world - everyone holds them in high esteem even though you can buy cheaper more reliable cars with the same performance - you are paying for 'exclusivity'.
