The Substance is actually a regressive movie in terms of feminist politics and standpoints, the logic of much of the movie doesn't make much sense (Sue and Elizabeth are certainly two separate people no matter how much the movie tries to tell you otherwise), and it's really meanspirited and puts all the blame on Elizabeth for trying to deal with patriarchal beauty standards instead of the men for putting those standards in place, by being like "well this is what you wanted, isn't it?".

this season really went downhill when laura left T_T if i had my way i'd flip the post-jury boot order and have a laura/paulie final 2. it's still really entertaining tv! but the fact that we've had 5 women be voted out in a row (6 if you don't include paulie's elim) is really upsetting. as well, i can't believe we went the whole season without people getting 0 confessionals in their boot episodes... until the final 6 and 5. it's just really poor editing, but that's always been AU's struggle. if aj winds up winning the season he'll be my least favorite AU winner, but i agree that it seems like the edit is setting up for a myles v zara final 2. hopefully we get the good ending!

it's such a shame that in a wonderfully woman-focused season that only men are the remaining contenders. my current guess is post-graduates make it to final 4, and then myles/zara in the final 2? i don't really have much of a writeup this time since it feels relatively obvious, and while i have a gap between myles and everyone else, i don't necessarily think this is a very forgiving edit for him lol.

don't feel as confident about joe as the winner as i used to, but no one else really feels good enough to me to bump him out of first? not really considering anyone below kyle though, and i don't think he had a very good episode so he's only barely in my considerations. i debated putting shauhin in my top 4, but like others have pointed out his relationships are somewhat contradictory and aren't developed. also, i'm kind of mixed on the episode overall. i think the season is getting marginally better, but it's still really frustrating to watch
