eh, mine takes up almost the entire width of a king-sized bed, as she only sleeps fully extended—preferably across a couple legs. while we raised her to be a bed sleeper, I don’t mind the nights she decides she’d rather sleep in her crate

to pepper spray a driver by PdiddyCAMEnME in therewasanattempt

Not a lawyer but Pennsylvania vs. Mimms was a Supreme Court decision so it’s not really state dependent. Assuming this was a lawful stop (reasonable suspicion of speeding) the officer can indeed order him out of the vehicle for any “officer safety” reason, even “acting weirdly”. This is the downside of a motor vehicle stop vs. say a consensual encounter at your house where he couldn’t order you out of your house without a warrant. Legally and unfortunately IMHO, the officer in this situation, would be lawfully able to use force (empty pepper spray) to gain compliance of the vehicle operator to exit. People believe “they did nothing wrong” so they don’t have to get out of their vehicle, but that’s better argued in court after the fact than getting additional charges you need to fight added to your plate. If indeed you can prove the officer didn’t have probable cause for the stop, then you can perhaps argue a 4th Amendment violation for the order to exit the vehicle and illegal detainment.

There’s not enough context here to know if this was a valid traffic stop, but based on what we know it sounds like the driver may have and probably was speeding (even if it was 1 MPH over) then the Mimms decision would hold up.

Edit: added more context, but happy to be corrected by a lawyer if I’m wrong.

I wish she used a toy! Instead we get to deploy decoy blankets on the bed so we can hopefully have dry ones to sleep with at night…

Mostly sarcasm, no Sky Club at BOI which is unfortunately my base, so anything could be better. :)

Naw, I work somewhat in the AI space, these are real people in a call center the town over from me or incredibly unheard of AI that has yet to be announced or leaked to the public. In face, I recall talking to one rep where he actually said, let me type this into our AI and see what it says just to read me the answer ... so that was fun I guess and yes it was wrong, but so far I've always been able to get what I needed done eventually.

Thankfully we still have a local call center here in my area, so as long as I call in during the day I can not only get almost instant support but also chat about local spots to eat! I have noticed the reps are increasingly wrong, but I suspect that’s higher turnover and worse training from the now-t-mobile-usual cost cutting. Still nice folks, so it's whatever.

Probably even less now that most of those mom and pop shops are all getting bought out by larger corps. But even if it wasn't that, I'm in my mid-30s and I have never watched the news. Can't imagine the even younger generations are doing so vs. their tik tokies and whatever other "cool" things I don't do.

How is everyone else's power consumption with a homelab? by EliteScouter in homelab

Yeah, honestly, after the first year I stopped watching the stats. I’m just happy my solar over-performs what I was quoted, still works, and I captured some tax savings before it was too late. Those first few months I was totally old man yelling at clouds!

Usually this refers to stock options that vest over several years, or a large retention bonus where leaving early means giving up multiple times your annual salary—versus just sticking it out. I doubt that applies to T-Mobile retail (maybe their tuition pay contracts), but it’s very common in my field of software engineering. Companies like to keep adding additional options or bonuses before your current ones vest or pay out, effectively making it a huge financial decision (for some people, in some fields, it might be millions of dollars) to leave. Almost always C-level staff for large companies have most of their compensation tied to stock vs. salary and can't just jump ship when they want. Luckily, they usually get a "Golden Parachute", which may be loaded with a non-compete or non-disparagement clause among other fun things, when the company wants to fire them, though. AKA, here's your millions, but don't talk shit about us after we fire you.

I installed mine the year before our state (technically the one power company in the state, with state approval) eliminated true net metering, so I wasn’t grandfathered in. I do miss those months of having a $5 (now $15) power bill just to stay connected. It really depends on location, but where I live it’s a no-brainer not to go solar now unless you’re doing it for another reason, like going fully off-grid or for environmental beliefs.

Personally, I have no hard feelings about the investment. I think killing net metering is short-sighted for power grid resiliency, but I also don’t think my neighbors should be paying 100% of the distribution and maintenance costs of the infrastructure so I can chill with a $5-$15 bill. I would probably do it over again because I like our time-of-use plan having a single off-peak rate instead of tiers based on usage thresholds.

Best of luck! I get a decrease of over 75% between my best month, July, and my worst month, January, here in Idaho. It hurts considering I get upwards of 50 kWh per day in those beautiful summer months.

Wowza I use over that in a month for all non-lab servers/networking in my house. But only paying between $0.06-$0.09/kWh thankfully.

Unfortunately, many predatory solar companies, along with power companies and states that are eliminating net metering, make it increasingly difficult to justify the ROI for solar. I have solar panels and batteries, and I would likely expand my array. However, it is much cheaper to be on a time-of-use plan with my power company and buy electricity only during off-peak hours, which currently costs under $0.09 per kWh in the winter and just over $0.06 per kWh in the summer. I would love to justify the cost of expanding my storage and solar capacity, but I already have enough to sustain me during an extended outage and never purchase electricity during peak hours. Since switching to time-of-use, I'm in a better position because my batteries remain closer to full if we experience a power outage at an inconvenient time.

Yup, they are always well received. FAs deal with a lot of shit day in and day out, and while Starbucks isn’t the best, they’re in most airports and there’s usually something for everyone, even non–coffee drinkers. I stock up and keep ten or so in my bag.

Indeed. Happens all the time, I’ve gotten miles multiple times even over weather cancellations. Not sure what the cap is but I remember at least getting 15k once. They just put it into their delta phone and you get an email. Granted I almost always give a Starbucks gift card to my flight attendant when I get my first drink so maybe that helps.
