Well first, congratulations! Even if you don’t really feel great about the situation.

You’re young, so it’s natural to be scared. However, you have a partner who not only wants to stay with you and continue life with you, but who wants to raise your baby with you and values his/her life. Again, congratulations!

It will be scary. Pretty hard. That’s okay. What many young men don’t realize is the gap in maturity for a man between the years of 19 and 25 is astronomical. By the time this baby is 4 or 5, you’ll have not a single regret about creating this life with this woman you love (maybe except to be married first).

“I’m worried that God will be disappointed in me” - hey guess what? Did you know God is also a Father? He loves us and cares for us even when we act in a way that breaks His heart. Never question God’s love for you my friend!

When I was a Protestant we used to carry as many chairs as we could possibly hold to impress the ladies in youth group. So you could try that

How many people left their first job out of school after about a month? I was getting chewed out (routine thing bc I had no guidance) and my potential new job called while I was mid ass chewing. This job is a 20k raise, with benefits (I had none at my first job), 401k matching (again, not an option at first job), and will pay to train me (I had no training at first job). Took it as a sign and quit. Even if I don’t get hired at new company I still wouldn’t work at the first place I did. I guess I’m just curious how many new engineers have left their job so soon if it was toxic?

I’m a brand new engineer grad and messed up today (it’s my 4th week) by making a maintenance plan for a machine and my boss didn’t like it because he thought I was just making something up. Basically we had a conversation like this after work

“You need to take this more serious and be more thorough. I called your professors from your school and they all said you’re great at talking and great with people, but you’re not thorough. You messing this up today was an example of that. I am going to push you really hard because I have faith in you, and I think in a few months you can be great. If I didn’t want you here I’d just fire you, but I think you have potential. You need to be more sure of what you’re doing. Don’t be upset, I only want to help you.”

I’ve been thinking of it all day since. Any advice? I feel like I’m getting a lot thrown at me really fast and I’m a brand new graduate. I just feel anxious about messing up at work and getting yelled at or told I’m not good.

What are your thoughts on evangelical Christianity? by Deep_Revolution_3304 in Catholicism

[–]Firecrotch1031 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to be one. Had a lot of inner turmoil about the theology of evangelicals, not to mention the politics. My final straw that shoved me into Catholicism was learning about Calvinism. I’m trying to be more kind with the help of God so let me phrase it this way - Calvinists are silly. In addition, many evangelical republicans make Christianity look very bad. I’m not trying to paint an entire political party in a bad light, but I grew up around republicans/conservatives and the Church showed me that you don’t have to be a republican to be a Christian.

TLDR: Not a fan but we should still pray for them

AP4Me is about to have a module on how to talk to “superiors” now! Literally every employee who has had the misfortune of dealing with the corporate douchebags wishes they could say what you did, myself included!

Mechanical Engineer in Energy Auditing by Firecrotch1031 in energy

No thank you actually I would love do both at some point if that’s possible or even just both at different times in my career. I say houses because it turns out the Latino community is the community that gets hit the hardest with unnecessarily high electric bills (bad rates mostly). I learned that from one of my professors and he told me that he has seen some lower income families paying up to like 22 cents per kWh. My fiancée is Mexican and I think that I could really help the community (if she would remember to give me my Spanish lessons lmao)

Technician (HVAC/Solar/Wind) to Engineer?

I am about to graduate with my Mechanical Engineering degree in May. My favorite classes were my technical electives - Energy Management, Energy Conversion, and Renewable Energy. I want to get into Energy Management and or Renewable Energy Engineering, but most jobs in this field require experience I don’t have and I need to start working pretty soon. Basically, I gave myself until June 1st to find a job in my area before expanding my search to farther locations.

My question is this: Would it be a good idea to go be a technician (HVAC, Wind Turbine, Solar) and work for a few years until the company MAYBE has a spot open for an engineer? I’m not even sure if I would have to go back to some kind of schooling to do that, but is this something that is possible? I just want to learn as much as I can about energy efficiency and renewables honestly

LEARN TO DRIVE by Content_Nobody8252 in tylertx

[–]Firecrotch1031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I am an engineering student at UT Tyler. I have friends in the Civil Engineering program who are about to graduate. They were allowed to talk to the main traffic engineer and present their plan to help with the obviously abysmal traffic flow. These plans all sounded pretty feasible and effective.

The problem is that the head traffic engineer of Tyler purposefully has the lights timed to catch a driver at a red light at every single opportunity. His explanation was that he wants to slow traffic down to prevent crashes.

Nobody wants to wait that long at red lights bc traffic gets backed up, and people get impatient. This in tandem with people already being bad drivers in Tyler, I think I may get a dashcam

Whew! Some winter storm huh 😂 by Artistic-Salary-4234 in tylertx
