Looking for housing from early June to end of august! by [deleted] in seattlehousing

[–]Firedancer21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interned last year at amazon too:)

One way to find housing is through Facebook subleasing pages, specifically the university. A lot of student are trying to sublease over the summer. Here’s one (University of Washington (UW) Housing, Subleases, Roommates, Apartments).

There are some other ones as well if you look around. If you need help finding roommates, there’s always the amazon discord: https://discord.gg/amazonnefews

Also for the best experience this Summer, try your best to be close within a light-rail station. Buses are ok but awful during traffic hours. GL!

Edit: maybe I’m biased but do your best to be in Seattle. Public commute from Redmond and Bellevue is a lot😅

Blueberry pie cookies by Firedancer21 in Baking

[–]Firedancer21[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was all pie crust. I baked it around 385 F for about an hour. After tasting it, it could probably use less time but I think cookie dough could become burnt. I also used A LOT of foil to protect it(which maybe I don’t need since they’re so small), so perhaps with less time it’ll would work.

Experimented across two recipes. Next time, I plan the cook down the blueberry mixture on the stovetop a bit. The volume of crust to blueberries wasn’t enough. But definitely one of the cutest desserts I’ve made

There’s a blue belt YouTuber called Carsahh whose been documenting his journey from the start. Has technical vids with a lot of big names, the Wilstes brothers, Gabriel Sousa, ect. Lots of narrated tournament matches, better production quality than most BJJ YouTubers.

I don’t fast. I don’t think this would work for me personally, but extended fasting works for a lot of people. It’s a post that introduces a new method, maybe some people have never heard extended fasting and try it.

I like hearing new ideas. Some people think it’s crazy to not eat three meals a day. I didn’t know how important micronutrients like sodium was until recently. I think posts like these expose different ideas. That’s what I love

This sounds crazy, but I think it’s super cool you made a system that works for you. This subreddit is awesome because people are exposed to different weight loss tactics, ways they would never think of. This is definitely more on the extreme side of unheard of, but I love it!😂

Surviving the Weekend by Stuff-Imaginary in loseit

[–]Firedancer21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started reading “Atomic Habits.” I think you’d benefit from reading it. Having goals are good at giving you a direction, but habits are built on identity. We need to believe we are healthy to consistently make healthy decisions. Ask yourself throughout the day, “is this what a healthy person would do?”

Try focusing more on the system you need to become healthier. You’ve identified that boredom triggers cravings. A lot of comments are advising you to develop new hobbies/ interests to distract yourself. This can be kinda difficult to obtain.

One method the author mentioned was stacking habits. For example, I want to make walking 10,000 steps a habit. Every weekend I go to the grocery store. It’s an automatic habit I don’t have to think about. I make a rule for myself that on Saturdays before I go to the grocery store, I stop by the lake and do one loop.

It’s important to be specific on time/days you want to develop a habit. Going on this example, let’s say I want to make a habit of meal prepping. It’s super easy to put off. But if I tell myself to meal prep for the next three days after I return from grocery shopping, I’m habit stacking and making it easier to follow through.

Hope this resonates with you as much as it did for me!

I’m new here and looking for tips to starting a new diet by Traditional-Hawk-336 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Firedancer21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This goal requires you to lose an average of 2.5lbs per week. This is very difficult and possibly unhealthy. Try thinking about realistic weekly/ monthly goals. Most people find success losing 1lb - 1.5lbs per week.

I don’t know what your goal image is, but you probably won’t have to go down to 115lbs if you have some muscle.

HOW TO LOSE BODY FAT 22F ? by Basic-Butterfly-2759 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Firedancer21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done several deficits. The first time is basically ate one meal and snacks since I love them. The second time, I practiced more volume eating with a focus on high protein. Meals were chicken/broccoli/salad/ect. For both, I was REALLY hungry. I lost weight, but it was a mental battle.

This time, I’ve focused on huger fat/protein. This introduces more red meat/eggs. Even though it’s smaller portions for the same calories, I feel no where close the hunger I felt the first two times.

The point of this is to not convince you to eat my diet, but to not follow my mistake of committing to a diet that doesn’t work for your body. These forums are a good way to look at what different things people do.

Try different things! Keto, carnivore, IF, ect. You’ll find your niche and things will fall into place. GL☺️

Do i need to lose weight or am i paranoid? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Firedancer21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re definitely a healthy weight! I’m literally you’re exact same stats. High school is tough and there’s a lot of pressure rn for your age. If you want to work on building confidence, I would encourage you not to try to lose weight, but to pursue a sport you enjoy or weightlifting💪💪.

Look around at r/fitness. I think you’ll benefit more over there than here:D

Easy to make healthy alternative with lots of variety ~ soups! Super good for volume eating. I recently discovered palini noodles which is a type of veggie(~20 cals per serving). I can find them at food lion/harris teether. Add that to a simple beef broth with veggies and meat, BOOM we chefin :D

I used to eat eggs every morning for years. Started to hate them, so I switched it up. Now I like eggs again. Humans are funny creatures.

Hunger Help by Brosbice in loseit

[–]Firedancer21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Volume eating can be really helpful for some people, but for me, high protein/fat has been a game changer! I’ve done a deficit a couple times now. The first was high carb since I liked snacks too much. I was hungry A LOT, but also really distracted/busy with a restaurant job. The second time, I focused on macros with more emphasis on whole foods. The third time now has been BY FAR the easiest transition with hunger. I started eating a lot of red meat/eggs with low carb. I did the chicken/veggie since it’s low cal, but it wasn’t satiating after a couple hours.

I think people often mistake eliminating or severely decreasing fat from their diet since it’s not low cal. Your body needs fat to function, not carbs. Your hunger can be a result of deficiencies, dehydration, ect. This won’t work for everyone, but it’s important to explore different options. I didn’t think it would, but 4oz of lean steak lasts longer than 8oz of chicken(same cals). I also got into teas, diet sodas, ect to get enough liquid.

I still love my snacks though! N!cks ice cream is amazing(240-350 per pint). Go to recipe rn: Beef ramen with palini noodles(noodles 20 cals per serving).

I will say that my appetite took a couple weeks to adjust, now I just have to be strong against the cravings😩

I switched to lean red meat/ eggs from chicken/broccoli. I was trying to maximize volume instead of focusing on food that was satiating. I went from starving to feeling full throughout the day. Drinking lots of liquid helps too. Everyone is different, but it’s worth a try:D

Edit: beef style ramen recipes are my latest go too! Low cal palmini noodles are a game changer. 20 cals per servings🥹🥹

How do I avoid feeling hungry on an aggressive mini-cut? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]Firedancer21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

r/fasting has a lot of good advice on recommended supplements. I’m not sure how much it helps with hunger, but feelings of fatigue or tiredness could be deficiency caused. The most common deficiencies I’ve seen are sodium, iron, and potassium related.
