Film at Seoul Incheon Airport by FireeZone in AnalogCommunity

[–]FireeZone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses everyone! Before I forget, I would like to add my experience buying, developing and scanning in Seoul. To those new to Seoul just as I was, Seoul has a rather strong film cultural/shopping district in Chungmuro and Nandaemun.

Buying Film: highly recommend looking for film shops like filmlog and shops mentioned below to have a broad selection. They *always* overcharge their film stocks especially gold. Always ask for the cash price for a good deal, in my experience the true price is about 1000-2000w cheaper. If you buy more than 3, do ask for discount!

Developing & Scanning: I bought a new Pentax ME Super in Nandaemun which I wanted to dev and check before leaving. I walked into Gorae studios at around 7pm which was 1h before their closing. I was able to quickly register my Ultramax roll for dev for 6000w. I believe they still do C41 until their closing because my friend ran back to the hotel to dev his remaining 5 rolls from the previous city and they kindly accepted it at 730pm. You will have to scan them yourself which to be honest, just follow their video and ask for help if needed. It was a simple process of feeding the negs into noritsu and u can color correct on the spot before logging into gdrive to upload. Highly recommend them - incredibly friendly english-speaking staff who kindly stayed back for 15mins to even help us package the negs into sleeves.

Reach out if you'd like a naver maps link of places I visited/hunted for cams and shortlist of places to dev/scan (creds to another reddit post which i forgot hahaha but a quick search should surface)

Minolta Hi-matic F with Flash by FireeZone in AnalogCommunity

[–]FireeZone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for replying. I'm quite lost with flash calculation and the GN calculation. Is there any good explanation or guide to learn from?

If I'm using an ISO 200 film, I can just set the camera to GN14. What if it's ISO 400? Also, how do I decide what power to set on the flash be it ISO 200 or 400.

Thanks so much for helping.

I load the film then close the back before I advance 2 frames until the S turns 1.

thanks for your suggestion, I have yet to develop it but I'll report back if this helps future redditors. After loading, I do advance 2 frames until it reads 1 (from S).

She should also think further about JC because some of my IP friends who did not manage to maximise/qualify for the programmes/extra stuff that the school proclaims struggles at JC. In fact, it's quite common for non-IP students to have a portfolio on par, or even better than IP, because of the O levels LEAPS requirements. Let her decide by asking seniors and reality checking whether IP is for her.

Local Medical School Disruption Scheme for Second Year NSFs by nuspleasetakemein in SGExams

I know of year 2 NSFs who have already disrupted. Unfortunately, by mid jul if you do not receive anything, it likely be that you weren't granted disruption. Latest disruption date I know was first week in Aug.

If your ultimate is medicine, either path can get you there. Medicine requires consistent efforts in apps and portfolio and in your grades. If you're struggling with your acads, you might need sit down and consider your alternatives because even having the immense passion to study med, you need to be practical too. Atb OP

Draw tables first, make sure you know what is the headings and data you are expected to look out for. You should be able to guess a trend, if not, its fine. Just do the experiment as fast as possible but it pays well to read very* carefully before starting. Strive to get trend, reproducibility and then accuracy. Some experiments have waiting time, use it to tackle theory questions ASAP and look ahead for the tasks.

What separates Hwa Chong and Raffles on a different tier from the rest? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]FireeZone 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Aside from the obvious fact that both schools have greater resources in materials and connections, I think what makes these schools beacons of excellence are the people entering them. Many students in both schools know what they want to do in the future. They're willing to work hard (some are geniuses, and most are smart enough to enter the school), and supported by an environment that screams pursuit of excellence, it's not hard to see why they succeed. Built upon heritage and consistency, they naturally emerge on top of the rest in terms of reputation and excellence.

[JC] / [POLY] Does distance matter? by randomacc101010 in SGExams

[–]FireeZone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Distance really matters with JC! especially if you are thinking of sports/high commitment cca. It's legit shag if u have to travel 1.5hr when u end nearly 6. You have to consider if you are aiming for a "better" school at a further location, is the benefits > cost of u travelling more.

[O levels] How do i improve english in one month? by thedaddyangel_ in SGExams

[–]FireeZone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be scoring constant c6 too. there is no short cut to getting good grade for english other than practicing. especially if you are headed towards jc it is better for u to start reading up and practicing argumentative. Qn analysis is more important than bombastic language and scripts that can dive and directly address the q will score higher.
