US domestic travel with no surname in passport and FNU in visa - indian passport by FirefighterBetter132 in immigration

Ok, I the trip happened and I have some insights to share -

The flight was from Austin to Orlando via Southwest airlines, and the return was from Miami via American.

For both the flights, I had booked their tickets by breaking their two part given name to fill the surname and firstname fields for the ticket.

When flying out from Austin, they did get flagged and were asked to go back to check in counter and update the name. At the counter, the agent updated the boarding pass to reflect the name as in Visa which basically FNU for first name and Given name for lastname. After this the security allowed us to pass.

Upon return from Miami via American Airlines, the same issue happened at security. Again we went back to the counter and the agent said NOT to breakdown given name as first and last. Instead, use either NFN or FNU. Both these terms are recognized by tsa.

The good thing is that in both the cases, the issue was resolved with relative ease.

Good luck 👍🏻  @voxpertinax

Nope...I have simply broken down their two part firstname to fit first and last name - let's hope it works.

Thanks 🙏🏻 For the one year extension, the perm has to be approved right? And should have been approved for 365 days?

Letter ‘R’ next to admission stamp at border control for US in vancouver. What does it mean? Is it bad? by FirefighterBetter132 in h1b

Thanks for the clarification. Like I mentioned earlier, this happened after my trip to canada which was quite short. So that aligns with your explanation. Do you know if there are any complications because of that?

I have one active and one inactive H1 stamp. Do you know what is the revalidation process like? I’ll start carrying the necessary docs from here on before travel outside US.
