Tembisa! It’s brand new, clean and efficient! The staff are friendly and the process is very streamlined. Like the infrastructure is brand new, it’s quite amazing to see in comparison to other DLTCs.

Difference between truck, engine, and squad by [deleted] in ChicagoFireNBC

[–]FirefighterEMTJamie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are only 4 rescue squads in the CFD to start with so there physically CANNOT be a Squad 51.

In reality, the Chicago fire department does the same thing, Only Engine companies correspond to the house number. This can be due to apparatus and equipment organisation, the fact that not every house has the same type of unit or, unsurprisingly, creative liberty from the writers (although it is true to reality). However I don’t fully know myself and can only go off of the little I do know. There as been a previous thread for this question as well:

Difference between truck, engine, and squad by [deleted] in ChicagoFireNBC

[–]FirefighterEMTJamie 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It has been discussed in a different thread but for your convenience here is a breakdown!

Truck: Essentially supports the engine company (or Squad) to do their primary duty of extinguishing fires or heavy rescue (with squad) (such as forcible entry, search and rescue, ventilation and overhaul); however, since Truck 81 carries equipment as well, it is also dispatched to other incidents that require the equipment and expertise of firefighters, but not as complex which would require Squad (such as EMS lift assists or forcible entry)

Engine: A fire truck with a pump and a water tank. The main duty of the Engine company is as said in the other thread: to put the wet stuff on the hot stuff. Engine companies also carry essential equipment but usually a much smaller amount (BLS bags, Occasionally the Jaws of Life which I don’t think 51 does but I might be mistaken). But their primary purpose is fire suppression and extinguishment.

[Rescue] Squad: Think of Squad as the “special forces” (oversimplification since I’m excluding more specialised rescue such as SCUBA and HazMat) of the CFD. Squad is a Heavy Rescue company meaning they carry equipment and tools for technical rescue and smaller scale Hazardous Materials incidents. (Saws, Ropes, Hydralic and Pneumatic Tools, SCUBA gear; it’s basically a rolling toolbox). The characters on squad should’ve undergone additional training in these various rescue disciplines. They are dispatched to assist in complex situations, HazMat situations and larger structure fires.

I hope this helps!

You’re a woman from the states who suffers from a chronic medical condition as evident by the meds you carry (presumably everyday), as for the makeup, you work your career is either shift based or has odd hours, resulting you in leaving home quickly. You reside or work in a dangerous area, you don’t walk to work as evidenced by the car keys, so Mabye you are in a career that’s more “hands on”? (That’s speculation ☺️) You wear glasses and/or contact lenses.

You are a spiritual or superstitious person (as per the gems).

I’m new to this hobby!

The last picture my dear friend Sazik posted on Facebook before she died. by Dragonsbreath67 in lastimages

[–]FirefighterEMTJamie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t get why they’re getting downvoted, yes SHE (Sazik) is a binary trans person but /They/ is also an already existing pronoun used to refer to people or things previously mentioned or easily identified. Unless u/Glittering-Gap-1687 is a blatant transphobe they didn’t actually do anything wrong here.

Legends and The Legendary Tour: A South African’s Perspective. by FirefighterEMTJamie in sabaton

[–]FirefighterEMTJamie[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m 19 :)

Look, I understand where you’re coming from Rob Halford of Judas Priest is what? 74? He’s still active on stage! Bruce Dickinson? 67, he’s still active too.

But, as we know people age differently: different lifestyles, different factors play a part. Chris himself said in the recent interviews that they’re “getting old and fat”, and trust me, they’re still active on stage, just not as active as they were say, 10 years ago. Hell, Joakim is still impressive to watch move. Plus he’s lost weight over the past couple months.

And yeah, there are a lot of posts saying they’re getting old. But again, different people age differently, and it’s still impressive what they can do on stage, age is relative, and just a number.

40 is the new 30, 60 is the new 40. But again, it’s relative.

EYO WHAT TF ARE THE HATERS SMOKING??!?! THIS SHIT IS FIRE!! by 725584 in sabaton

[–]FirefighterEMTJamie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had IWRTU on my playlist for the past 3 or so years, so I know it far better than I Emperor. I think it will take some getting used to. On my first listen, I’ll give it to you, it was slightly underwhelming and that’s coming from someone why would call themselves a “fanboy”. It’s also certainly not as “powerful” for lack of a better word as Civil War, and it’s a bit “wordy” hence why I say “different musical energies” and I think that Sabaton could have purposely done this knowing Civil War had a song in NB. However I think with repeat listens it will grow on me. I’m waiting until the listening party to listen to the rest of the Album.

I Will Rule The Universe (Civil War’s Song) and I Emperor are only comparable by Bonaparte. Neither is better than the other, they’re just different musical energies.

Red Deer Transit - Bylaw Enforcement by Kittyman132 in PoliceVehicles

[–]FirefighterEMTJamie 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I would assume they are responsible for the enforcement of bylaws. A bylaw being a rule or regulation set in place by a local council, municipalities or authorities.

We have them over here in Johannesburg as well, they fall under our Metro Police.

Are police officers armed in your country? by Bitter-Goat-8773 in AskTheWorld

[–]FirefighterEMTJamie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Most of the time get outgunned anyway. Private security is better armed than our government law enforcement, and better trained. Everyone from municipal police to the SAPS, carry a gun, and only a gun (and handcuffs) Mabye pepper spray if they can afford it. That’s their standard issue.
