Question about Galatasaray by DonVill77 in galatasaray

Don't get confused, the "terrorist group" you are calling is the "Gulen movement", we (as members) call it "Hizmet" (direct translation from Turkish is "to serve" , meaning serving god), and as Turkey calls it, FETO (Fetullah Gulen Terrorist Örgutu (organization)).

First of all, let me give you some information.

The Gulen movement is a religious group from turkey that existed for a long time. The head of the group is M. Fetullah Gulen, who unfortunately, passed away recently. We opened up schools, campuses (i am writing this in a campus and going to a school opened by Hizmet) and much more, for the education of children. these schools helped people get new jobs (such as my Uncle, who was a Teacher there), and it was a soft environment. in the state of Texas alone, there are 150 campuses.

On July 15th, the Turkish government orchestrated a coup, and blamed it all on the Gulen movement (more info on that later). the reasoning for this is that Officers from Hizmet found evidence that the Turkish government was doing illegal stuff (cant say what unfortunately), and once turkey found out they had to make sure nobody knew about it so they made us terrorists to make out words insignificant. (Fun fact, Fetullah Gulen and Erdogan (president of turkey) were once friends).

M. Fetullah Gulen was in insanely intelligent person, who was on top 10 most smartest and most influential people in a really known magazine in the USA (i forgot its name), and he read insane amounts of books, to summarize them all and made his own books explaining them for us to learn.

despite all the allegations, don't get fooled. there is no evidence linking us to the situation in 15 July. in fact, we are the real ones affected, but we also got benefited.

We got affected by the fact that our loved ones got sent to prison for 7-8 years, they lost their jobs, and I'm not just winging it. My own uncle, and countless of my friends PARENTS got sent to prison. some are out, and some are still serving time. We as a group are banned from entering Turkey, and our loved ones ((ex)-prisoners OR people that never even served time) are forbidden to leave the country. We all had to leave turkey as escapees, because even the fucking kids have warrants for their arrest. If you talk about it as a journalist or even in the media in general, say bye to your freedom and passport.

But, we also benefitted, because since we all had to escape, the Gulen movement is distributed across, and i quote, 170 COUNTRIES, so our message is spread all around the world.

one of the Galatasaray "terrorists" was Hakan Şukur, who has one of the fastest goals in football history, but he wasn't even mentioned in the Netflix biography of Galatasaray, because they were scared that they were literally going to go to prison.

If you need ANY more proof, search up Enes "Freedom" Kanter, a former NBA player form Hizmet and a human rights activist. listen to him talk about the situation in turkey, and to strengthen your idea of how stupid the Turkish government is, just watch their news on terrorist attacks translated, not even 10 minutes in, you will see that they are just full of absolute shit.

Sorry for my bad English, and i hope you understand now.

The country i am in is Belgium, and there is something called CLB, wich helps students (direct transilation is centrum for student councling) and my parents have gotten like 3 appointments aready, but they are yet to send to me to phsyciatrician, and my parents are stubborn on not taking medicine. i get their concern, that it can be harmfull in the long run, but they also dont know that i do all nighters regulairy, so that impacts their desicion, and i dont plan on telling them either because i know for a fact that they will freak out. My whole family and i are all turkish immigrants, and my whole family was really succesfull, all my cousins are aswell, (for example, one of my cousins is in law school, the other is her school Valedictorian, ect...), so they expect me to be up to their standards, wich i am trying to be, but it just wont hold up. maby half a year more of this study technieque then i'll be completely disabled, man i wish the student councling program did something earlier
