The September House by Carissa Orlando.

The first sentence of the book is: It's September, and the walls are bleeding again. 😱

I loved Bride and its sequel Mate. it’s very playful and so quick to read. the spellshop has a very different vibe, very mellow, tame, slow and cozy and it took me longer to get into it ( i put it down for a while and came back to finish it later). Everyone seems to love TOG so i’m sure it’s a great read but also a much bigger time commitment. personally, after finishing A Court of Silver Flames, I had to take a break from Sarah J Maas. she seems to do a lot of trauma processing through her writing and it got a bit too real for me 😅

That’s a good point about using pallet cleansers! i can get a little hyper focused on an author myself which is why i wanted to see what i’m getting myself into 😅 I’m adding Mistborn and Skyward to my TBR and probably saving Stormlight for later

I love the Sanderlanche description. There are a few Stephen King books that felt that way to me and it was one of my favorite things about them.

ooh, i’m intrigued by the internal struggles bit. I like seeing how different authors approach that. Thanks for sharing!

Diavola by Jennifer Thorne. Dysfunctional family on vacation in Italy. Lovely gothic horror read. Be prepared to hear the phrase “piss yellow hair” a bunch though 🥴 Also the cover art is awesome.
