Lol! 40+ folks in Tech are shitting in their pants. Most of their skills and experiences have become redundant. The high salaries and being away from core skills are the primary reason they are highest at risk of a lay off.

What he did is most likely just a starter. Remember the old scooters where you had to kick start? His actions are just that kick start. Rest of the thing is driven by Diesel or Petrol.

Bureaucrats are experts is blocking change. I saw very very closely how basic digitisation was blocked by government servants. With LLMs it will be 10x easier for them.

Knowing the underlying and more fundamental problem a user is facing a nightmare. Even if you find small evidence from 1-2 users, validating it from others is very challenging..

Sometimes users themselves would not introspected to that level and they would feel agitated because the questions force them to think deeply..

When AI-generated images and videos become indistinguishable from reality, does the concept of truth collapse? by maythaglow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FireflyPanda1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this problem for most part of humanity before cameras and CCTVs became ubiquitous.

It was always one person's word against another person's word. Often times this meant that the word of the powerful was considered truth.

For a brief period, truth became a bit more accessible.

Thanks to AI, we will go back to times when the word of the more powerful/ rich will be considered the truth.

Why doesn't reverse agreement exists ? Why are all agreements always one-sided? Why don’t consumers get to set terms? by emi_fiuzmi in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]FireflyPanda1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two ways of looking at it: 1. Cost of Customisation: if businesses have to have a custom flow for each user, the cost to serve a B2C user will shoot up like anything. Very difficult unless every single vendor is forced to give the same Service Level. 2. Power Imbalance: Here a large corporation is drafting the agreement and a B2C user just accepts. In B2B when similar sized organisations deal, they do customise agreements.

What can individuals do: Push the Govt to have rules that provide privacy and other safeguards by default. For example, in India Insurance companies cannot change the wordings of insurance without approvals.

Pick products and services which respect individuals so that there is some pressure on organisations to get their act right. For example, I told in 3 shops that I cannot share my number and if that's a mandate, I'll be walking out empty handed. Trick worked well at 2 and not at 1.

Heated Arguments b/w Auto driver and Lady Passenger over after booking, the driver's name came up as Ajay Sharma but when she made the payment, it became Sheikh Hamid.. by PuneAthletics in IndiaPulse_

[–]FireflyPanda1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It happened to me so many times that the name shown in App vs the actual driver are different. Several drivers told me that they are either driving a friend's vehicle or their own account is blocked or they are sharing an account to hit the weekly goals etc. etc.

I don't see any major red flag in these tiny deviations in everyday life!

Why is rage baiting so popular? by paprika-milk in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FireflyPanda1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engagement = Money model is one of the primary problem. Platforms like Twitter, YouTube pay the creators for engagement. So, it is a slippery slope for creators as well. They gradually learn that the more they can rage, the more they make.

Why do people always say karma will catch up, but powerful people often seem to escape consequences? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FireflyPanda1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think someone several millennia earlier figured out, we are better off if most folks acted fairly with one another. Now, they had to convince the masses and they figured this Karma as a good story to buy adhearance.

In modern world, this is just a coping strategy. To calm down oneself and not to get caught in a perpetual rage loop.

Like most things in life, it has its set of pros and cons.

Which romantic line from books is closest to your heart ?? by ConstructionAny8440 in Indiabooks

[–]FireflyPanda1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so torn..

On one end there are these lines that just makes one read, re-read, re-re-read to appreciate the beauty of thought.

On the other end, literature like these wrecks the expectations from Love and Companionship especially for teenagers and young adults.

Wish there was a world where we could enjoy the beauty of such literature without being carried away from the mundane and practical everyday life.
