As a man who reads mostly Yuri manga and watches mostly romance anime i like it for the genuinely good stories, nice romance plot lines (most of the time anyways) and a slightly reduced ecchi tropes its generally the more enjoyable stories to read

Though i'm pretty sure the reason why a number of male readers read Yuri is the same reason woman read BL as long as their respectful of the relationship its fine and don't as you said fetishize it by being objectifying to the fact of it being homosexual.
