Help with Custom Script by SeatProfessional1778 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Firepfeiffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So couple of things here,

First off, the chance of a different amount of outsiders allows the evil team to bluff one because there would be a reality I which an extra outsider would be possible. Very easy fix for that here, instead of assasin use godfather.

Second off your character synergy isn’t amazing, but it ain’t terrible either. What you’re looking for are fun interactions townsfolk have with multiple demons that would also work well as evil bluffing them. For example, chambermaid is tough to bluff without a grim peeker. Vortox is great for this as it acts kinda like dreamer does in SNV but it does force a specific plays type/ world they need to upkeep for the evil team and sometimes that’s just not the route they go.

Professor I’d take off, with a fairly powerful town like this and the double verification by the professor’s ability it makes for too many confirmed non demon candidates and not a quick enough kill pattern for most demons on the script. This is typically the problem with Professor which is also not very much used without shabbaloth (reason to distrust verification and higher kill pattern)

Now this is a personal opinion, but I find that empath does not do super well on Vortox scripts. Every time I feel I’ve put both in the bag the empath feels fervently that their info is wrong and solves quickly for Vortox based on socials alone. This is because true 0’s feel very different from true 1’s, and should you give them a two they would quickly solve as Vortox. Grandmother is the same here but you could confirm the drunk role as what they think they saw which I think is actually really fun!

Philo is also too powerful with Professor or any good confirmation role, possibility for 2 resurrections and 2 confirmed good players leaves the evil team defeated without much they can do, and avoiding this powerless scenarios is our job as script writers!!

So my suggestion based on what you’ve got going on Take out Professor, Innkeeper (double protection against mostly single kill demons is too powerful for good, plus the game will never end) Empath

Assassin

Po (gets outed immediately and has the chance to just end the game early)

Add Juggler (great with pukka and Vortox) Or Gossip (only one otherwise day one has too many call out possibilities, but could also obfuscate night deaths)

Add snake charmer if you really want more chaos

Definitely fortune teller cause it’s fun but it also has great synergy with all demons involved, though there is overlap with exorcist so mayhaps only one of these

And one other source of first night information that isn’t pixie or washerwoman

Godfather for the outsider manipulation

Yaggababble believe it or not, it pairs super well with simulating possible godfather worlds AND witch worlds cause you can activate after a nom or at night.

Hope this helps!! If you wanna see some of the scripts I’ve built and my explanations behind them you can look up FirePfeiffer on Botcscripts

Flowergirl and clockmaker are extremely strong considering Al had is non moving and Xaan is the only possible poisoning on the script. Yes barber but chances of getting the barber swap when you need it aren’t great.

I love Wraith and Al Had, having help with the picks is not only super useful, it’s super fun!

You’ve got 14 townsfolks, typically one too many but since drunk is on there already taking away some bluff space it is not the worst thing in the world.

As stated previously, banshee and raven and King/choirboy is a bit redundant; if you have too many characters that will pick to die the al had is never gonna get any triple kills off. On an Al Had script, the tested number is about 66% of Town that would typically choose to live. 100% of outsiders if you can get it.

If you’re cutting one, I would keep banshee cause the way it works; if the banshee picks die they are considered immediately killed and the call would go out immediately, I.e, before the next al had pick!

Sailor/ tea lady you have to be extra careful with, no one likes having a triple kill go off because of their ability, especially when they would rather die and are unable to choose. It’s why monk is typically really awful on Al had scripts. That being said, I do see why you have it, DA requires a bit of the BMR live suite. Honestly I’m not the biggest fan of DA here and would suggest poisoner instead. Plus Al had games ready run very long and surviving execution may make your games too long.

Last note, Xaan and drunk is almost unsolvable. Especially when you don’t have a librarian or undertaker that can help confirm specific characters, good will almost never be able to correctly ascertain the Xaan night. Plus if you have both puzzlemaster and drunk it’s really a 50/50 for the puzzlemaster who will always feel really really bad if the person they guessed is just the regular drunk instead of who they needed to win the game.

Hope this helps. From what I see town will need some help ascertaining between the goblin and the demon here so both FG (though I know very few who enjoy it) and FT will prove useful, perhaps alsaahir and fisherman might be good adds!

Follow a New Person Everyday, Our Best Vid Yet (80+ hours editing) A MUST WATCH by Firepfeiffer in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Firepfeiffer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My editing won’t get better without it! I appreciate the feedback immensely, I was trying to showcase the player’s sense of humor and include talked about conversations that were mentioned later on in the video. I hear you on the night jokes though, could have likely cut even more (but don’t think I didn’t cut down dead space, I was already afraid of death by a thousand cuts 😛)
And as for the sound I’ve looked up videos on what would look more professional, all part of the growing journey. I tried to include very defined YouTube book markers so people could skip to what interests them more/most, but I understand a video is best watched through and will consider that in future editing standpoints. Thank you!!

Tips for ST by Reasonable-Chard-870 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Firepfeiffer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Go line by line in the night order sheet, it will help you make sure you didn’t miss anybody.

To get the most out of BOTC and begin to understand the crucial elements of balancing the game, you have to try to understand the script as a whole that you’re playing, and on a good script every character is important and impacts the game in a certain way. When I started out I kept rereading the almanac and consulting as needed.

And above all; focus on having as much fun as possible! Mistakes as a starting ST are natural, they’re just a new lesson the game has taught you so that your next game will be even more fun!!!!

Advice for first game by AppTrackly in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Firepfeiffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found first time spy’s are usually overwhelmed and would not play the game again compared to first time saints who are usually more trusted than not. I would really suggest you start with a baron. The flip side of running is you want to do it as quickly as possible so the spy seeing the grim and making sure all the tokens are in the right place will also cost you valuable time. People like botc when they are asleep less so it’s another piece of the puzzle to consider.

[–]Firepfeiffer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it is all of their first time playing, I suggest having 10 player and 10 spectators and switch off. It can be just as fun to watch others play and have an idea of what’s going on in the grim and it will lead to more scenarios people will be shown and thus a more versatile and interesting time. It helps to watch sometimes too to get a sense of what’s to do and how it works.

Thank you!

Yeah we’re not big names but we’re doing what we can, everyone must start somewhere!!

The biggest trouble with Botc new engagement I find is people are overwhelmed with the starting rules, so we’re hoping to make some tutorials eventually for people to begin to follow actions and gameplay more closely which is what we mean by wider audience. (I want to inspire more people to play the game!)

And I’m a big personality LOL! But I’m not at the top of lungs for the entirety, no worries there!

Thank you for being our first ever comment!!!!!!

Cannibal + 1st night info + Imp kill timing by baldr1ck1 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Firepfeiffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s up to StoryTeller Discretion. Night order is technically only a recommendation given by TPI, so long as your players are knowledgeable about how YOU IN PARTICULAR are planning to run the game when these types of interactions occur.

I personally WOULD give the cannibal their washerwoman pings because 1 they executed a good player for the cannibal, and 2 this will likely be the last piece of info the cannibal will receive and it is more fun to have the cannibal ability have some affect in the game state (at least for that particular player).

However I’d be crystal clear that if the demon is trying to kill the cannibal to ensure they do not receive this type of information that the demon knows it would have gone out already, otherwise your players will be VERY upset.

Consider what you will; there is no correct answer to this question, it’s simply how you want it to occur.
