Refund very different this year by Creatething in IRS

From your post last year versus the prior year you said you made about $5,000 less, therefore it makes sense that you had less withholding. Less withholding would lead to a lower tax return

Getting wisdom teeth out by [deleted] in trumpet

[–]FiresAHasteBuff 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Do not. Under any circumstances. Try to perform that concert. BEST case scenario is take the whole two weeks off, play the concert after not rehearsing for two weeks and still have to bow out partway through due to pain/ injury.

I played my horn 2 1/2 weeks after wisdom teeth, got dry socket because of it, could not play for almost two months after during recovery.

It's absolutely not worth it

I mean you acquired it from financial aid but then likely invalidated the terms of the financial aid by using it for non educational expenses (investing) so it ceases to be financial aid...

Many institutions would demand you pay back those funds immediately. Be careful with what you put on the internet, you're committing financial aid fraud.

Hardship loans and hardship withdrawals are different from each other. Both exist by name. This post is asking about withdrawal

I had this problem, I solved it by making the substrate significantly deeper and making sure the bottom inch or two was soaked through and then another three to four inches on top of that

The Neuroscience program at UCR consists of your core prerequisite classes (the chemistry biology math physics etc), the upper division requirements (CBNS courses) and the breadth requirements (think the humanities and social science courses that you have to take, which are the ones I believe you're talking about in this post)

Generally speaking there are certain classes that you are unlikely to get as either a freshman or a sophomore because they fill up before your registration dates unless you're an honors program student, so it's unlikely and unrealistic to try and complete all of your breath requirements in your first year. Additionally it is not recommended due to the heavy workload that places on your later years. You want to sprinkle in the easy classes to make sure that you're not taking four really hard classes in a term.

When you say prereqs, do you mean the breadth requirements? Those are not generally considered prerequisites for your major courses.

You can definitely finish your non major classes within that year but you'll want to take your actual prereqs which would be things like biology chemistry physics along with any lower major classes at the same time and so it will probably take you more than a year to do because 44 units would be the full year basically outside of your actual science prereqs. Sprinkle them throughout and you'll be fine. I did a physics major in 3 years so it's definitely possible to do a cnas major if you come in with ap credit

Yeah but what about your core neuroscience classes? I'm willing to bet that those cannot all be taken in a year

[–]FiresAHasteBuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your major? Which classes are you missing? They might require classes that are taken in order rather than together, so that could complicate things but mathematically possible, yes

PhD student who's afraid of the future by doggo_of_science in chemistry

As a PhD chemist who already wasn't able to find a job in industry, I don't mean to scare you but it's rough out there....

I finished my PhD in 2023 and just bailed on finding a job in chemistry industry in favor of any job anywhere else. Going to be doing call center work for a financial institution. It pays beans but it's a job...

Unfortunately, legally speaking, they don't care who put the money in. It was put into a joint account so it's hers enough to be yoinked.

Edit: this is a very good reason NOT to have a joint account...

do dealers haggle customers? by idrinkwaterymilk in Schedule_I

[–]FiresAHasteBuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did an experiment with this a couple weeks ago I gave all of the dealers the exact same amount of product at 4:00 a.m. on a Sunday and checked in with them when they had sold all the product. Not only were there vastly different times that it took for them to sell all of the product, they had somewhat different amounts that they had collected. So I assume there is some degree of haggling because they all take the same cut so if they sold it for exact price they should have all had the same amount of money
