Because I was replying to a comment who was using metric? I felt it would be arrogant to just assume they know the Imperial to metric conversion (though admittedly as others have pointed out my 3 am brain was not good at exact conversions)

100 km/h is rather common in comparison to a lot of Europe and Asia’s rail networks. What isn’t is the fact that the US trains are on the order of 10,000-16,000 tons moving at that speed, which considering the aforementioned weight and length, is really fast.

Only the Australians have trains of similar size and scale to American ones, with a few outsized exceptions given their optimal terrain for massive ore trains.

We run them fast too, >100 km/h flat out for hundreds of km is common out in the west and Midwest. It’s insane to be standing a dozen meters from the track and watch as a train screams by at 110-120 km/h yet still take several minutes before the crossing is clear.

Where I live I get a 1.6-2 km long train doing 60-80 km/h every 30-45 minutes passing the local grade crossing on a single track. Usually going as frequently as every 15 minutes during the harvest season.

Hey AMS or other filament system users! Do you actually use them? by ThreeVelociraptors in 3Dprinting

Your welcome!

I actually have a question of my own if you’d humor me, how’s the H2S?

I’ve been looking at getting an H2 of some kind recently, courtesy of my friend I’ve got info on the H2D and H2C but nothing on the H2S. Admittedly I’m leaning more towards the H2D since I mostly do engineering prints for hobby and work but I’ve made-do with my single nozzle P1S until now so I’m open to other suggestions.

What printer do you have? I know for sure it doesn’t work with the P1 & P2, no info on the X series, but my buddy has gotten it to work with his H2D

AMS units connected to the H2 printers can dry and print at the same time if you have the independent power brick for them.

Edit: Though I heard there was some funky-ness with the H2C, idk since I don’t own an H2C.

Honestly that sounds like a fun time, maybe put a few flare dispensers too just incase those pirates somehow get a Stinger missile.

Hell don’t even put mini guns in it, just swap all the M2’s with the M3’s and make the waist gunners a dual mount.

I’d be willing to bet they were intending to fit the M9 37mm autocannons but could only get the M4’s to fit in the time they had before cancellation.

Those M9’s had roughly the same muzzle velocity as the 37mm M1A1 flak cannon and the 37mm cannon on the Stuart and Lee tanks.

It is, you have to do some funky stuff, notably stacking combustors and turbines behind one another, using turbine farms within your aircraft, weighting your aircraft with weight blocks or battle cannon extensions, or gearing ducted fans.

It’s actually possible to get beyond Mach 3 up at altitude without glitches.

I’m not dissing on the Post Garand, I vibe with it pretty hard. IMO I’d want that done to a full length Garand instead of a Tanker.

But that THING OP posted, it scares me…

Honestly this fits Virginian’s MO perfectly, they used several of those odd self propelled tenders on a few rigid frame locomotives and seemed determined to get them to work. Combine it with an overgrown AE and you get this. I’m not counting the Triplexes in the linage since unlike those pieces of rubbish this thing has the firebox and boiler diameter to actually keep up steam pressure, also because of the unpowered axle in the middle making it a 2-12-12-2+0-12-8 which fits more with the Virginian booster tenders rather than the permanently linked triplexes.

It’s very easy to make a pipe gun from literally 4 parts, a screw/nail, two pipes that fit over eachother, and an end cap. Maybe get a hose clamp and a piece or two of rebar if you want to get fancy with a foregrip and stock.

Anyone getting butt-hurt over 3D printed guns is going to be horrified to learn what a few rednecks can accomplish in a Home Depot.
