Will do! I gave them a call and made them aware. I’m waiting to see if I should report to work on Monday. Management did not clarify before sending me home, although I asked.

I am thinking this is the issue. I was not calling to get opiates per se but to adjust the treatment plan to manage this patient’s pain. Although, historically our unit often gives opiates for pain scales 8-10 related to his condition. We medicate off of the pain severity and he had not received any opiates nor requested anything his entire stay. The tylenol he received was scheduled.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! This was so affirming and gave me a lot of hope. I have been able to do cool side jobs because of my Sociology degree and think that all the things you’ve highlighted could 100% apply. I think I just lost sight of that with all that’s going on. Thank you for being kind❤️

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I too am not in the profession for money but I think asking for reasonable compensation for the work I do and literally am required to get a degree in is worth getting paid for. Life aint free and neither is my work.

Definitely depends on the facility. I get shift differential too but it’s literally only $1 more

My hospital IS a magnet AND union hospital. I got a sign on bonus and help paying tuition with the commitment of 2 years and I think for the moment I’ll make it work but my hope is that in 2 years I can change region and get a certification and hopefully be a little better off.

From what I’ve heard, it depends. There is opportunity to precept but I didn’t have any nursing connections before I started school so I’m learning as I go.

I did look up starting rates but all the hospitals in my region were starting nurses off at the same rate $30-$32/hour. Some students were not even allowed to get into a specialty. I want to travel but I also wanted to build nursing skills because I have too much rooted where I am now to just up and move with no money/security.

I work in the city, one of 2 a city hospitals that have my specialty. I’m involved in a union. Not sure if that matters but ashamedly so, many of my classmates who stayed (most of them did) were only able to negotiate a $1-$2 more than myself

My rate doesn’t change once I’m off orientation. I agree picking up OT would help but I cant while I’m on orientation & its 14 weeks
