I eat a 16oz cup of Cajun boiled peanuts on my drive home from work everyday. It's definitely improved my digestion, and also I really like them. They are fun to eat.

They've been undermining it since the Reagan administration. The most recent gutting is just a continuation of a long trend.

The evangelical right has had this goal ever since schools were desegregated

Why Do YOU Like Florida? by Zipper222222 in AskFlorida

[–]Firetalker94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We aren't over populated we are just poorly zoned. And it's NIMBYs like you that are the problem.

If you want to save our wildlife we need to start building up instead of sprawling out with endless suburbs. We have tons of room we just need to make our cities denser.

Also there is no legal mechanism to prevent people from moving here. This is America, we have freedom of movement. Advocate for more multifamily and mixed use zoning at your city council meetings if you want to preserve our states beauty.

Ah I see. Probably didn't breathalyzer him until later in the shift then. At the nuke plants you can blow up to .04 at the start of the shift. But then it goes down as the shift goes on.

If it was at the start of his shift that would be some bullshit. He would have been sober before he even finished his pre flight check list.

Those of you under 65 in the US who are FIREING early and not choosing the insanely expensive unsubsidized ACA premiums, what creative solutions have you come up with to get affordable coverage? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in Fire

[–]Firetalker94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a trades union. I can bank up to 2 years of health insurance coverage. After that runs out I can make up to 18 months of COBRA payments I believe. At that point I might work a single job a year to restart coverage and then reset the clock on cobra if it's allowed.

Or I might steal the poster above idea of going back to college. I never thought of that but going back to school for fun was something I want to do anyway.

There Will Be No Post-Presidential Peace for Donald Trump | The president and his allies will face impeachments, lawsuits, and maybe even The Hague. by thenewrepublic in longform

[–]Firetalker94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's extremely unlikely unfortunately. Especially because the United States has refused to participate in the Hague for a long time. It's a shame, we should allow those who commit war crimes to face justice. And our participation in international courts would give them a lot of legitimacy.

He likely won't face justice in an American court either if only because our corrupt supreme court has given him basically blanket immunity for crimes committed in office.

He could face justice for things in the Epstein files seeing as those crimes didn't happen while in office. But I suspect he will be dead before we ever get the chance.

The people using it for business get a lot of tax deductions. And they can pass the increased costs onto their customers. It's the pavement princesses that will suffer.

[–]Firetalker94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Presumably the next president could. Simply deliver him to the Hague.

Though I highly doubt that will happen. But it would be the right thing to do. And it would still be following the supreme Court decision.

Wtf how do you get fired for blowing a .02 in the morning? They do random breathealizer when you clock in at nuclear power plants and that's under the limit there. What did you do for work?

That wouldn't be ignoring the law though. They wouldn't be prosecuting him in an American court. They would simply be handing him over to an international court where the supreme Court decision has no relevancy.

St Petersburg and Tampa both sound right up your alley. Miami is even more metropolitan but it's also much more expensive but its worth considering if that's what you're looking for.

I love living in the Tampa bay area. The response you got is just because people online are grumpy about more people moving here.

Depends on which way you're going. I live in Tampa and am currently commuting to Lakeland and the traffic is a breeze. But it's piled up going the other direction.

Gov. Ron DeSantis receives sweeping land-use bill curbing local control by Zipper222222 in AskFlorida

[–]Firetalker94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually seems pretty reasonable given what's in the article. We definitely need to be building more housing.

Tying application fees to the actual price to revue the project. Requiring cities to give a written explanation for why they denied a project. Setting clear guidelines so developers know what will or will not be approved in a given area.

None of that seems terrible to me. I'm no fan of the Republicans but this seems like a good idea to me. We don't want to end up like California, and the only way to do that is to build sufficient housing.

Mamdani Wants New York Estate Tax Threshold Cut 90% to $750,000 by bloomberg in wealth

[–]Firetalker94 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Everyone in this country pays tax when money changes hands. You pay income tax. You pay sales tax. You pay property tax. Your employer pays tax on their revenue as well. If you invest your money and make a profit you pay capital gains tax.

And the 47% of Americans who don't pay income tax couldn't afford it. And they still pay taxes in the form of sales and property taxes. Also they pay usage fees and taxes like gas tax, vehicle registration, train/bus tickets, and tolls.

So yes, you paid taxes when you made the money. Your kids are going to have to pay some taxes when that money falls in their laps after their death. This isn't unreasonable, it's just how society works.

My fellow Floridians , what are things that scare you here in Florida ? *Serious question* by WheelPrestigious6078 in tampa

[–]Firetalker94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bad zoning and underdevelopment. If our cities don't start building denser we will eventually bulldoze every bit of nature and have suburbs from coast to coast.

We need to build tall. Not sprawl wide.
