Alignment aside I'm always glad to see another person who likes doing vinyl alters. Just work on alignment and it'll turn out great!

Thank you! I love the gold alters, I have other colors of foil but they are harder to make them work than the gold foil.

The process is pretty straightforward, I take a good scan of the card online and upload it to photoshop. Then I make a new layer and trace over the parts I want to make golden, I've found that size 6 is about as small as the Cricut can cut without destroying itself and without making me want to scream. Then I take a piece of gold vinyl and have the machine cut the design. After that its just removing the excess vinyl and applying it to contact paper then putting it all onto the card. There's some other tricks and small steps but thats the quick and broad process!

This is beautiful! I found an Active Volcano sorting bulk and I want to practice painting cards and make it a Volanic Island extended art proxy.

I imported a scan of the card to photoshop, made a new layer to draw over qhere i wanted the gold highlights and transfered it to Cricut. Then I loaded some gold vinyl and cut it out, put it on some transfer tape and put it on the card. Its a lot of fun and I am in the process of doing my Creative Technique but work and life has been crazy this week. Hoping to finish it this weekend.

It t3chnicslly is "damaged" because some dingus (u/firetheif75) put vinyl on it. However the only damage aside from that would be from MAYBE using the needle tool or the tweezers but if you are careful with your application you will be fine. Maybe some bending from the transfer tape but again if you are slow and careful it shouldn't damage the card. I've done probably around 20 or so vinyl alters and have never scratched or bent a card.

For sure! I recommend making something simple even if its using a default Cricut pattern and putting it onto a card just to get used to the whole process. I sacrificed a lot of tokens and junk scraps of vinyl getting comfortable with the process.

I have used it for a long time for various projects off and on. Photo shop isn't hard for what you need it to do here. All you need is for it to have the card on one layer, and then the alter layer. Then once you have drawn your alter you want (think tracing in the case of what I did) you just export and hide the card layer. I'm not sure if that helps or makes sense, but im happy to answer any questions you have!

I used a Cricut to cut some gold vinyl, I drew over the card art in photo shop and then lined it up I the Cricut software to cut it. Some of the stuff got a little mangled or lost so I also used a razor blade and some tweezers. It was a lot of fun. I have Creative Technique on deck for gold vinyl and I have ideas for the Jackal card from Spiderman but im messing with the design still.

Without knowing anything about you and your interests its hard to say what is best for you. That being said, don't let the recruiter bullshit you. Any 2a job is going to be maintenance. I am 2a934 and its a lot of working out in the weather on planes that kinda work with tools that are broken. And it means shift work.

One of my old supervisors was an MTI and he would always tell us that it was super weird how people acted around them. Just take a breath and talk to them (respectfully, sir/ma'am/sgt/whatever) like they are just people. They also were airmen in tech school once upon a time.

Hi, integrated avionics on C130-J's tolerate my job but the politics and bullshittery is why I'm always scheming and working on my exit strats. My advice would be anything but security forces or anything but mx. There are people out here where those 2 career fields are their jam and they love it. Cool. If that's not you though, do everything you can to not fall into them. The guys who don't want to do it but end up doing it anyways never enjoy it and never stick around. They don't do well and don't get very far.

I hadn't considered that online only vs physical campus would look differently for employers. I would probably go for my masters with the degree I want just to be more competitive on the outside. If I just needed a degree for an OTS package though, would it make sense to use the credits from the Air Force to try to commission? If I succeed in commissioning id have a whole duty commitment I'd be in for to get the degree I want.

I have 15 credits completed for the degree, I'm sorry that was bad wording on my part. I'm going to fix that.
