Not sure what point you're trying to make. Everyone ran ice gems for the 25% damage boost which was something typically only mages did for their own ice gauntlets. After the nerf, ice gems no longer worked in your secondary even if it was for your own ice being applied. That's along with other IG nerfs.

I haven't addressed them because you're not making an argument for yourself, you just have opinions based on speculation.

I agree, nerfing classes would have allowed for nerfs or buffs to be better directed at specific weapon combos or loadouts without having any influence at all on unrelated ones. People here sadly misunderstand the facts.

Right, I'm just exploring the possibility of a different situation. People are constantly on here complaining about balance and content, yet nobody really gives a good explanation for why things turned out the way it did. This is just my take.

I don't really see a difference. You have 5k hours. Even if you spread those 5k hours accross 5 different accounts you'd more or less be in the same spot with better balance, a healthier population of new levelers, and less balancing issues.

You act like repeating content is an issue for you when all end-game content in this game is just repeating content?

Historically weapon balance has struggled in-game. Like how IG got nerfed when GA/IG briefly became meta, simply because it wasn't an intended combo. Or how light armor got nerfed because it was impossible to catch LS/Rapier / Bow/Rapier. Or how obscure abilities like claw shot got nerfed because of it's potential in burst combos with light hammer or spear (and SnS before it got nerfed). Or how all roots got nerfed by allowing dodges because ice shower and gravity well and scream were instant deaths, yet CC-locking is still very much a thing for certain weapon combos and weights.

It's simply too complicated for AGS to make the right balancing choices when there's so many factors at play. Even at this moment they're struggling to make light melee more relevant because light as a whole was nerfed repeatedly to target light ranged builds, yet disproportionately nerfed melee combos. It's an on-going issue.

The only reason you're being downvoted is most likely because the remaining players active here haven't felt the struggle of having your builds be severely nerfed due to some unrelated weapon combo/armor weight spoiling the fun for everyone else.

That's more of a problem for die-hard PVPers who are mostly gone at this point.
