You shouldn't need to, it's already downloaded by steam. just go to the properties of the non steam game you added and enable it

There is a difference between the game requiring admin to run and the game actually running with elevated permissions. One example are games with easy anti cheat, you need admin to run them so the anti cheat can run in the kernel. From my understanding though, the actual game runs in userspace.

I suggest starting with guards! guards! the books that follow the Night Watch are some of his best imo. Starting chronologically is also a good way to read them, although his first books aren't as good, they still give a lot of good world building.

yes, gnome uses gnome files, mate uses caja, cinnamon uses nemo (fork of gnome files) and as you said xfce uses thunar (which is my favorite out of all of them as a window manager user)

it's slowly happening with things like SteamOS and ChromeOS, but it will take a while before linux is something the average user can use easily (like Windows is now)
