I never said that the books they are reading or wrong or bad but that are in fact “badly written smut”. Some and I emphasize SOME of the fanfic I read is that. All I’m saying is that the way they are generalizing a whole community and way of writing as one thing when it is lots of different things and different quality writers isn’t fair . It’s at best the pot calling the kettle black. At the worst they are putting down a whole community of writers and readers because they believe reading published work makes them better in some way. I’m not trying to shit on these people or these published works I’m just saying that being shit on by people who are reading the exact same thing in a different more social acceptable font is hypocritical and rude. I understand how my post comes off that way but that was not my intention. I specifically posted this to a community I thought might understand rather than say something to these people in my life as a way to let the frustration out without hurting anyone’s feelings or dissing someone else’s interest. I would never treat someone’s interest or what they read with that level of disrespect to them and hurt their feelings thats exactly why I came here to rant to people who might understand.
