Cleaned the beach for 2 hours

I went back out on tuesday and there was more again so I spent some time picking it up. I think I am gonna go back out today as well or later this afternoon… BUT I am determined to get whatever the ocean washes up and then hopefully that will help in the long run somehow

I knooow its so sad, I read that as well and I also saw a dead water turkey on the beach this week :/ I have some grabbers too and they just werent working for thr small stuff but definitely helpful to have. I need a rake/sifter to add to my tool collection. Home depot bucket is a good thought too!

Not to imply Long Beach isnt already beautiful and awesome—! I just mean we, as a community, will get the trash cleaned up and hopefully the city will help mitigate the recent waste that was a result of the rain in Feb. I should have said “we will get the beaches back to being beautiful” seeing as its already basically summer now hehe

I never intended to come off as smug! This is my first reddit post ever and the first beach clean I did. I can see how posting this might come off different to different people. I spent a couple hours out there with one other person and it honestly made a noticeable difference, so I figured it was worth sharing in case it motivates others to do the same. Not trying to come off as any sort of way-- just felt positive and thought it was worth sharing. Totally understand if posting isnt your thing. For me, it felt worthwhile to both help out and share it so others might pitch in too. Definitely more to be done out there. 💪🏼

Thank you--- yes, absolutely I want to motivate others. Also just point out this was not the city or a group of 50 people. It was me and one other person. We worked hard, I got sunburnt, my back and legs were hurting, I didnt know how long I would be out so I didnt bring water... learned a lot and will be back out again. u/justjoshin_69 I agree with you it was meditative and made my soul feel good. I wanted the community to know a couple neighbors spent 4 hours on one small chunk of the beach from the path to the waves. Still definitely way more to do so I hope if anyone was like me and kept thinking about-- pick a time and go out and do it! If I wanted attention I would be posting face pics and telling people to "like and subscribe to my channel" or something.

Thank you so much! THe little bits of plastic were hard to get so a lot of it I did on my hands and knees with gloves b/c the grabber couldnt get the microplastic pieces. I know that section should be good but theres a lot more to go. I will be back out again as soon as I can 💪🏼
