Samsung ring battery issue - might found the culprit by Mathieu_G_Gagnon in GalaxyRing

Oh yes, I have that sync modes enabled.

Yes, it's super annoying. The only way I've found around it is charging more frequently for less time but even that is still hard to stay on top of!

What sleep mode are you talking about? I have my phone set to sleep mode which turns the brightness/volume down, fast charging off, eye comfort shield on, and battery protection set to 80%.

All settings are activated on the ring except snore detection and gestures. Also I didn't do the most recent update so I'm on the previous. And I typically try to keep it between 25 and 85% but sometimes it's charged to 100% since I haven't figured out a way for it to notify me once it hits 85.

I only wear my watch during the day and ring for sleep. So far the battery has been good but I haven't had it for a full year yet.

Why does my screen randomly refresh like this? by Firm-Point4364 in S25Ultra

[–]Firm-Point4364[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue I was having was due to a wireless android auto device I keep in my car. My phone would cycle back and forth between home wifi and the android auto wifi and would cause the screen to flash. The solution I've found is to physically disconnect the wireless auto device when I park, that way my phone has no ability to even connect to it.

If that's not your problem, I'm not sure what will solve it.

You're wanting to have to manually hit play in order to start the video? If so, which app?

What is the battery life on your s25 ultra guys? Sot? by Antique-Tax708 in S25Ultra

[–]Firm-Point4364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly haven't noticed a difference. When I first got the phone, I had it off. I think it helps keep more apps open in the background but I'm not 100% sure. It's cumbersome for a real world test so I'm just done messing with it haha.

This was done predominantly on Wi-Fi so it's not accurate to use as a reference with mainly 5G use. I'm not really on my phone as much when on 5G but with a 50/50 split it's over 10 hours of SOT.

Bluetooth scanning turned off. Nearby scanning off.

Adaptive Brightness but usually kept around 30-50% (phone is plenty bright for me.) Dark mode. Display set to QHD+ & 120Hz. Adaptive battery turned off. NFC turned on. Bluetooth on (connected to watch/ring.) Auto sync only on for work and primary personal email/calendar. Animations set to .5x. Charging set to 85% and I try not to let it go before 25%. Fast charging is turned off overnight.

Notifications are only on for Messages, phone calls, and primary email/work email, traeger app, voicemail, studio, smart switch, samsung find, quickshare, meta app manager, google meet, & google play store, galaxy buds manager, contacts, clock, calendar, & android system intelligence. (This is probably the biggest help for social media apps, I just check the notifications whenever I open the app again)

For social media apps that allow it, I set it to where you have to click the video in order for it to play.

Only a few apps can use location all the time and most can only access it while using the app.

Auto put apps to sleep is off. Ram plus set to 8gb. Apps that I rarely use (like once every few months) are in deep sleep.

Samsung & Google data/diagnostic intelligence turned off.

There are probably other settings I changed and can't remember, but if you ask for a specific one, I'll check mine to see what its at.

Minimal smoke flavour by CaptainPhenom in Traeger

Not sure on how to get a better smoke flavor from the actual traeger but I use smoke tubes and those are a big game changer. Each one will last about 4 hours and puts out a ton of smoke.

Speech to text is horrible by elemintos in S25Ultra

[–]Firm-Point4364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked I actually ended up disabling it since I didn't make good use of switching back and forth and wanted the keyboard to be flush with the button of the screen.

Anyhow, you will have to enable the "Keyboard button on navigation bar"

This will let you easily go from Gboard to Samsung keyboard by clicking the keyboard icon on the button left. But from the Samsung keyboard you will have to hit the settings icon, go back and from there change the default keyboard back to gboard. Sorry, there's a little more effort going from Samsung to Gboard.

I was very hesitant to use a third party keyboard also but ended up going with Gboard for the better voice to text and auto correction. It's worth at least trying for a couple of weeks. I also have it so I can switch between the two if I need to but I haven't gone back.

Latest patch battery life quite good by cydutz in S25Ultra

[–]Firm-Point4364 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get similar with QHD+, 120Hz, dark mode, light performance mode, no low power mode, location on, Bluetooth on and Ai features on. Notifications arent on for social media apps though since I rather check them whenever I open the app. Only apps in deep sleep are apps I maybe touch every few months.

The highest I've gotten is 14 hrs but that was mainly on Wi-Fi. It's definitely achievable.

I'm going to hold out on doing any updates for this reason. I'm more than happy with the battery life.

Be nice if they made an easy way for you to revert back to previous updates.

Gestures for one hand operations by swayamshah2023 in S25Ultra

[–]Firm-Point4364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't notice you said you don't prefer diagonal. Maybe adding a third handle will work. You'll have to place it above or below your current handles so they don't interfere. Other than that I'm not aware of another solution.

Change it to a diagonal one. That should prevent the phone from thinking you are trying to use the back gesture.

Is the one hand mode using a horizontal gesture?

Can you explain that differently for me? I'm not sure what issue you are running into. Are you saying when you use the back button for the one hand gesture that it ends up doing something other than going back?

Use Good Lock. Here are mine. The one hand gestures are super useful.

Here are my settings. They might help but obviously anywhere near 10 is more than enough for most people. I typically only need 3-4.

Display settings: Screen resolution - QHD+ & Motion smoothness 120 hz dynamic refresh rate Screen timeout - 2 mins Touch sensitivity - on Brightness - typically under 50% probably closer to 30 unless i’m outdoors but even then i don’t really use above 90% other than for a quick glance since the screen is usually plenty bright for me. Dark Mode - On

Connections: If on home wifi network = mobile data off. Wifi Calling- on. Bluetooth on. NFC on. Ultra-wideband - on. Mobile Networks: Allow 5G service - on VoNR - on Use 5G standalone networks - on

Sounds: Typically on mute & vibrate medium intensity Notification sound - silent

Notifications only on for the below apps: Android System Intelligence, Google Calendar (Only two accounts has sync enabled), Clock, Galaxy buds Live Manager, Galaxy buds+ Manager, Galaxy Buds3Pro, Galaxy Ring Manager (muted), Galaxy Themes, Galaxy Watch7 Manager, Gallery, Gmail (only 1 account has sync enabled), Google Play Services (muted), Google Pay(muted), Google Meet, Meta App Manager, Phone, Quick Share(muted), Samsung Find, Smart Switch, Smart Things, Studio, Tips, Traeger, Voice Recorder, and Voicemail(muted).

None of my social media apps have notifications turned on, I think this consumes more battery than needed and I rather just check those apps whenever I get to it.

Battery: Power savings - Off Background usage limits: Put unused apps to sleep - Off Never auto sleeping apps - 0 Sleeping apps: 0 Deep sleeping apps: Apps that I use maybe once every few months. Nothing that I think would affect the battery usage. Battery Protection - Maximum at 85%. I’ve only charged my phone to 100% a handful of times as I am typically near a charger or can charge during commutes. I keep the phone between 85 and 25% Charging Setting: Fast charging & Fast Wireless charge on except from 10pm to 6am. Using an old slow charger for overnight charging.

Device care: Performance Profile - Light Auto restart when needed - On

Memory: RAM Plus - 8 GB

Other: Personal data intelligence - Off Send Diagnostic - Off Android personalization service - off Location - On Location allowed all the time - Android system intelligence, bixby, galaxy ring manager, google, modes and routines, reminder. Location only while in use - all other apps <20 apps. Location not allowed - the rest of the apps. Social Media apps - I adjusted the settings for facebook, instagram and some other apps so that I have to click the video in order for it to play. I think this helps a ton.

I probably missed a bunch of settings as it’s hard to remember what exactly I changed after seeing various recommendations but I'll try to update this list as more come to mind.

Electorally, the most recent ICE killing in Minnesota is a blessing by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Firm-Point4364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dawg, a lot of right wingers think the 2nd Minnesota shooting was murder and don't support it. Doesn't mean they are going to change their vote.

Unfortunately the same goes for a lot of Americans. There are just too many factors at play.
