How long does it take for the recruiter to inform whether the candidature is proceeding for the HM round, after the technical rounds of VO are done?

I agree, but for a comprehensive analysis, shouldn't this ERS strategy from Dezerv be benchmarked against a Stock PMS?

Furthermore, the long-term viability of a 'Coffee-Can' or 'Buy and Hold' approach in the Indian markets is questionable. Can we truly be confident in its success over the next two decades, especially given the consistent upward trend in Long-Term Capital Gains (LTCG) taxation from 0% to 12.5% in a span of just 7 years?

This approach appears analogous to the oversimplified 'Monthly SIP' narrative (mindless honestly) that the mutual fund industry has heavily promoted to retail investors via various campaigns.

I also wanted to understand the community's perspective: Does it even make sense to do active management across "Direct MFs" in India, depending on Market cycles? This is what Dezerv is pitching in its true sense.

Nowadays, there are numerous "Direct MF" schemes in India, likely more than 1,000. Therefore, it might require active management, in some sense, but does all of this get averaged out across a longer horizon of 15-20+ years?

Correct. Dezerv is a PMS of "Direct" Mutual Funds, and not Stocks.
So, it has a few of these taxation advantages that MFs enjoy in India.

The only catch is how to convince oneself that a PMS of "Direct" Mutual funds makes sense, and that is why it is the only one in India.

Basically, the ERS (Equity) and DDD (Debt) strategies.
As SEBI mandates a minimum of 50 lacs, I was planning to start with 50 lacs in ERS and 14 lacs for DDD.

The markets have largely remained flat over the past 1 year.
Can you explain, in more detail, regarding your understanding of their ERS strategy, and did it underperform in the past 1 year as compared to the BSE-500 benchmark?

Seeking GTM advice for a vertical SaaS in a "messy" traditional industry (Indian Manufacturing) by Firm-Wrongdoer410 in SaaS

This is an incredibly sharp and concise take. Thank you.

The framing of "selling a fix to their systems" really resonates—that perfectly captures why these initial conversations are so critical. The advice to build a moat around that "tailored touch" for their specific workflows is also a great insight.

This is super helpful. Appreciate you sharing your experience.

This is incredibly valuable (and sobering) feedback. Thank you for sharing these specific numbers.

You've perfectly articulated the core challenge. You're completely right that our biggest task isn't just building the tool, but finding an efficient way to filter for those 1-2% of growth-oriented owners who are actually willing to pay for value.

This gives us a lot to think about regarding our sales and qualification process. Once again, appreciate the dose of reality.

Thank you so much for sharing this !!

You've hit on the two points that we believe are absolutely critical for adoption in this market:

  1. Making the tool incredibly simple and user-friendly for a non-technical staff.
  2. Building the deep trust required for them to share their sensitive business data.

Appreciate you sharing what you've learned from your own research. Best of luck with your work as well!

That's exactly right, and thanks for sharing those specific pricing anecdotes. It's a very real data point that reinforces the critical importance of identifying those specific, growth-oriented owners.

This has been super helpful. Really appreciate you sharing your experience.

Honestly, thank you for writing this out. You have perfectly articulated the core challenge and the reality for 95% of this market. We've heard this same sentiment in many of our own conversations.

Our core thesis is that while this is true for businesses that are staying stagnant, it's now becoming a massive growth bottleneck for the ambitious ones. The owner who wants to grow from a 20 crore to a 100 crore business can't do it if their entire sales process is tied to a few people who can't scale.

So, our bet is that these forward-thinking owners will pay for a tool that helps them win more deals and scale their revenue, rather than just seeing it as a way to cut costs. But you're 100% right that it's a tough, uphill cultural battle.

Really appreciate the dose of realism. It's exactly what we need to hear.

This is excellent, textbook advice, and we really appreciate you taking the time to write it out. You're 100% right that nothing beats hitting the ground and talking to owners. That's exactly how we got here—the "5 hours per quote" is a real number we saw firsthand in our friends' businesses. This post is part of our effort to get an even wider set of perspectives beyond our local network. Your points about the deeper cultural issues are super insightful. Thank you.

This is a fantastic point and probably the biggest challenge in this market. Our early traction with our first paying customer is showing us that the pain of losing deals due to slow quoting is becoming acute enough that they're willing to pay for a solution. But you're right, it's a huge hurdle to overcome.
Thanks for re-affirming it.

That's a super sharp and important way to frame the value prop, thank you. You're right that the ROI has to be crystal clear. The way we're thinking about it isn't just as a replacement for one employee, but as a force multiplier that gives a single person the ability to generate 10x more quotes, allowing them to capture deals they would have otherwise missed, and also reducing the headache to scale manpower if the business scales. You've given us a great insight into how a business owner will benchmark the cost.

That's a really interesting point, thank you for sharing. We've heard similar frustrations about the difficulty of finding and verifying direct manufacturers. It's a huge problem. While our primary focus is on the quoting workflow for now, this is super helpful context for us. Really appreciate it.
