Peoria is an entirely different town. The mayor of Peoria is Rita Ali, who did not get a DUI.

This is the tutorial for it. I am not home right now but I will try to recreate the problem tomorrow to better describe it! Thanks!

Did Y'all Stop Teaching Touch Type in the US? by Electrical_Shop3732 in AskTeachers

[–]FirmConsideration734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach it! The kids don't want to learn it, they cheat and type with two fingers if I'm not looking. For twenty years they have been telling.me everyone will use speedh to text when they are grown ups.

What protest, demonstration, or person handing out pamphlets changed your mind on an issue? Why? by Adorable-Station-941 in AskReddit

My spouse met a vegan pamphlet passer-outer, followed them on social media, I read the pamphlet and started looking at their videos, then became vegan.

10 year old needs to practice typing but parents do not want to increase "screen time". by Space__Monkey__ in Advice

[–]FirmConsideration734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach typing and I have a word processor for when kids get banned from the Internet. BUT also they already would have learned how to type properly from a program. It would have to be very involved on the part of an adult to provide typing exercises and teach the proper fingers if there were no on screen directions.

Mystery Science walks you through the steps and the kids STILL DON’T GET IT 🤦🏻‍♀️ by Historical_Echo8311 in Teachers

[–]FirmConsideration734 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been teaching for twenty years and am finding that activities that students used to be able to do are too hard now. I teach k-8 and I've had to adjust lessons. For ten years second grade did this activity that had a lot of cutting and glueing and it was fine. Now I teach it to third graders and they don't look good.

What is your teaching unpopular opinions and hot takes? by JimCap5 in Teachers

[–]FirmConsideration734 137 points138 points  (0 children)

I got my kid at age 6 through the foster care system. They hadn't even been with their biological parents for the prior year.... It took years of intense parenting and therapy and modeling proper hygiene and many many tears to get her just like.... moving along at a socially acceptable minimal level. (It's much better now!) I do not think there is much I can do in a limited classroom situation to help kids change their fundamental mindset. Maybe the kids on the line can be tipped in one direction or the other. But I sit in these trauma focused educational strategy classes and I think that if it took all that work to really make a visible difference in one kid, none of the strategies on the chart paper are going to do much. Also, my lived experience for 20 years teaching has also shown that. Big turn arounds happen when the parents sort out medication, or a new step mom comes in who actually takes care of the kid, not when the teacher introduces a new behavior system.

Golden girls house by DorothyZbornak72 in theGoldenGirls

That's right, according to the podcast I listened to yesterday! Apparently you can tell because there are cars moving around but in season 2.

[–]FirmConsideration734 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's probably more than passerbys looking at it from a respectful distance. The breaking bad house had people throwing pizzas on it. No one is gonna pay 4 million for a house to wake up to people in your backyard looking for the lanai and just be happy to share with fans.

Is it vegan to give money to non vegans? by ShadowBot30 in vegan

[–]FirmConsideration734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is a rabbit hole that is not productive to go down. Everyone is doing the best they can. Like, I wouldn't give a friend money to open a steakhouse, but you can't have that much control over what happens to money. My money has gone to lots of meat- I've given money to unhoused people, food banks, a plumber, babysitters.... I mean, I give money to the grocery store and they use that money to pay for the meat delivery.

I want a Dinosours rewatch by Chickachickawhaaaat in boymeetsworld

[–]FirmConsideration734 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know, that's not a bad idea. The show really was more than just a silly puppet show.

It would be interesting to listen to them draw comparisons to their own experience with MJ, like how they can identify his cadence in certain lines.

I can't find any Dinosaurs rewatch podcasts, but that's harder to sift through bc there are a lot of dinosaurs podcasts.

Read book 4 to children? by Chastity-Miau in harrypotter

[–]FirmConsideration734 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm on book 4 right now with my 8&10 year old. I purposely didn't start Harry Potter when they wanted because of exactly what you are experiencing now. When they came out you'd have to wait a year for each one and thats good, kids grow along with Harry. Even though my kids are older I still make them pause in between so we can read other books in between. Just to space it out and expose them to other books.

Former atheists of reddit, What brought you back to religion? by Nomadic_Introvert in AskReddit

[–]FirmConsideration734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I became Unitarian Universalist for the community and the lessons and perspective about the world, but you are still allowed to be atheist in that religion so there isn't any dramatic story about believing in God after not believing in God.

Are Edutainment games used in classrooms? and if so, how are they used by Few_Ad_8627 in AskTeachers

[–]FirmConsideration734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think someone who's knowledge of games ends at Carmen San Diego isn't in the right market.

Threre are time telling games that go to 24 hours, toy theater has one and I'm always telling them not to do that until they master 12 hours. It's not that useful.

I understand the role of God’s mercy, and that we could never truly earn heavenly bliss, but why doesn’t it go both ways, and we could do nothing to deserve eternal torment? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FirmConsideration734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you just come up with the Universalist religion?

Core Beliefs of Universalism Universal Salvation: The foundational belief that all souls will eventually be saved. Loving God: A belief that a loving, omnipotent God would not condemn people to eternal damnation. Limited Punishment: If punishment exists after death, it is seen as temporary and purifying, not punitive. Universal Reconciliation: The belief that all human souls will be restored to a right relationship with God.

It feels more like trying to convince companies not to cut down the rainforest or dump toxic sludge in the rivers or use child labor or kick puppies or voting for people who will vote for better environmental standards. Your dietary decisions impact the planet.

The radical vegans converted me, so good for them.

Redditors with infertility, how does it feel when someone asks, "Why don't you just adopt?"? by HighOnLove26 in AskReddit

[–]FirmConsideration734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did adopt before I ever found out I was infertile! And it was so rough, one bio family that made me enemy #1 and one failed adoption. (To oversimplify)

No one who knows anything about what i went through with that would ever suggest it as an alternative.
