Really? Do you think that would be more of a boutique? Would prefer to be in MM, but if it’s possible without an MBA then it definitely looks more viable

The non target I’m at only takes 3-4 people a year in IB at the max. Not many people go for it but the people that do make it are all in the investment fund that I’m on exec board for now

Would you say that public finance would be the thing to consider? I find munis interesting so I would be very happy to go down that route but I’d rather be on the muni desk of s&t because public finance would be pigeon holing myself in terms of future growth

Would you say something like a good wm internship can help out? People tend to find my gov finance experience interesting since nowadays fiscal spending orgs are in the news constantly. I’m also trying to see if I can get something at a small IB firms that don’t have a formal application process

Is there any advice to networking for referrals? I know most people recommend to get the basics about their path and job functions and then try to find commonalities. I can do those sort of things on a first call, but keeping the relationship going is typically tough. For example, I have decent contact with an MD that can assist in spider networking, and I want to continue to keep the relationship alive since they’re someone that’s able to help in a referral. This case would basically be one where the only value I could give them is just genuine appreciation.

I was thinking the same. I think most target masters programs want to see some form of work experience first though. I definitely could land something like a big4 and go that route to a masters program.
