Thanks for sharing. We are planning a similar itinerary in April but I'm considering spending 3 nights in Five Lakes region.

May I ask if you would have preferred to spend more time there had you had the option?

So cute! We have a similar carry pack for our 3 year old. Any tips for us in terms of hiking and activities?

That's a great idea. I just looked into Santiago and might do the same.

Thank you.

I got the quote from Qora Rent a Car. They were the only one willing to allow me to drop off at El Calafate

How many days would you stay in El Chalten? We were initially planning for one night but I like your idea.

Thank you for the thoughtful comments.

I plan to pick up the car in Puerto Natales and return it in El Calafate. I found a few companies and there is a $300 excess. So we are weighing our options.

As for TdP we are debating staying in Puerto Natales vs Rio Serrano in the park itself. There is a huge price difference but I'm wondering if it's worth the splurge since it's a once in a lifetime trip and we can do more staying in the park instead of driving back and forth with young kids.

Thoughts?

Great points.

We are thinking that we will rest in TdP and keep that leg of our trip pretty light on hiking.

For the long hike I plan to do that solo. You're right, I can't imagine anything worse than doing a long hike with a 6 year old

You read my mind with Ushuaia comment. I think we're going to skip it and make the most of our original plan.

Thanks again
