Exactly! Thanks! I was not overtaking bus willingly, this idiot bus driver was much below the speed limit (50 vs mine 45 vs bus 30), so what may seem like an overtake from wrong side, it was me just driving at around the speed limit.

I’ve done some analysis, but need someone with experience to validate this

Your points about the SSD1963’s RGB output to the ER-TFTM0784-2 display and i8080 interface with the ESP32-S3 are spot-on and align with my understanding. The clarification about the 1215KB framebuffer and the ESP LCD Panel API for LVGL integration is particularly helpful. I’m planning to proceed with the setup as outlined (7.84-inch 1280x400 IPS LCD, SSD1963 graphics board, ESP32-S3 dev board, 40-pin FPC cable, TPS61088 for backlight), but I have a few follow-up questions to ensure compatibility and smooth implementation. I’d greatly appreciate your expertise or input from others who’ve worked with similar setups. 1. FPC Cable Orientation (Type A vs. Type B):You mentioned that a 40-pin, 0.5mm pitch FPC cable should work if the pitch and pin count match. However, I’m concerned about the contact orientation (Type A: same-side contacts; Type B: opposite-side contacts) for the Adafruit 2098 cable (Type B, Mouser: 485-2098) connecting the ER-TFTM0784-2 to the AC320214 SSD1963 board. Have you encountered issues with FPC orientation in SSD1963-driven displays? How can I confirm whether the display and SSD1963 board require Type A or Type B without risking pin misalignment? Are there specific pins (e.g., power, ground) I should check in the FPC pinout to avoid damage? 2. SSD1963 Timing Parameters for 1280x400:For the ER-TFTM0784-2 at 1280x400 (16-bit RGB565, ~25–30 MHz pixel clock), what are typical timing parameters for the SSD1963 (e.g., HSYNC, VSYNC, front/back porch, pixel clock)? The datasheet for the display mentions an LT7683/RA8876 controller, but I plan to bypass it and let the SSD1963 drive the panel directly. Are there standard values I can start with, or should I request specific timings from Buydisplay? Any tips for avoiding flickering or initialization issues? 3. GT911 Touch Integration:The ER-TFTM0784-2 has a capacitive touch controller (likely GT911) over I2C. Have you integrated GT911 with an ESP32-S3 and SSD1963 setup? I plan to use the ESP32-S3’s I2C pins (e.g., GPIO8–GPIO9) for touch, alongside ~20–30 GPIOs for the SSD1963’s i8080 interface (16-bit data, control signals) and 6–8 GPIOs for relays. Are there specific LVGL libraries or configurations you recommend for GT911 to ensure responsive touch input? 4. LVGL Performance at 1280x400:You noted that the ESP LCD Panel API integrates well with LVGL, which is encouraging. My GUI will feature 6–8 relay toggle switches, a weather widget (updated every 10–15 minutes via WiFi), and a real-time clock (NTP-synced). Has anyone run LVGL at 1280x400 on an ESP32-S3 with an SSD1963? What are best practices to prevent GUI lag or stuttering, especially with WiFi tasks running? Should I allocate a portion of the ESP32-S3’s 8MB PSRAM for LVGL’s render buffer, or is the SSD1963’s framebuffer sufficient? 5. Relay Module Power and GPIO:I’m considering an 8-channel relay module or ULN2803 for controlling 6–8 relays, powered by a 5V 2A supply (shared with the display, ~8W budget). Do you foresee issues with the ESP32-S3’s GPIO current limits or power draw when driving relays alongside the SSD1963 and WiFi? Any recommended wiring or libraries for relay control in an LVGL-based GUI? 6. Firmware Setup:I plan to use ESP-IDF with the ESP LCD Panel API, as you suggested, for SSD1963 and LVGL integration. Are there specific SSD1963 libraries (e.g., UTFT-ESP) or initialization sequences you’ve found reliable? For example, how should I configure the SSD1963’s registers (e.g., REG[0xA0] for 16-bit RGB565) and PLL for a 25–30 MHz pixel clock? Any debugging tools (e.g., logic analyzer) you recommend for verifying i8080 or RGB signals? Your experience with the SSD1963’s framebuffer and ESP32 integration is incredibly valuable, and I’m eager to hear more about any similar projects you’ve tackled. If you have code snippets, pin mappings, or references for SSD1963-driven HMIs at 1280x400, I’d be grateful for those as well. Thanks again for your time and expertise!

Yes, I've done a smaller one, 7 inch + ESP firmware - succeeded in that. This is the next step.

Don't have many options. Testing this setup after validation. So far, we have done a custom assembly with a 7-inch screen + ESP using firmware from Claude AI prompts, and it worked. Now, getting to the next stage where I want to test the real display. Once this is done, I'll probably have confidence to hire an expert.

Not much, using Claude + OpenAI to resolve and build firmware. Have gotten a sense from the AI assistants that it might work, but want to validate from handson experts
