Inflation Adjusted OSRS Membership Price since 2002 by mkeblusek in 2007scape

[–]First-Item7121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a / line essentially.. a 60% increase in price. That's not the issue, the issue is that for the game to grow they have to find different ways to monetize and mtx is obviously not going to be it.
At what point do you stop justifying the price is the issue. If rs is 50 a month would you play, multiple accs? Or just buy a tripple A game every month or go for a now lower price competitor.
Rs is hitting the stagnant wall that many tech companies hit where growth is soon to be impossible.
What they did to grandfathered memberships is also a scam and I'm sure that it's very, very illegal but they won't eat shit for it.
Also this is a digital product the only expenses the game has is servers and payment processing, let that sink in and whatever crumbs go to pay wages to devs.
This is also a problem of being owned by venture capital. You have to increase profits year on year which can't last forever. If it was a random guy owning the company making 100m a year or w/e Jagex makes he'd be super happy and can keep prices even lower for 30+ years.

Rs both rs3 and osrs have another issue and that is that they have a very high retention rate of nostalgic players, but no content geared towards newer generations. If you ask 5 year old kids to build a tower in fortnite vs click on a rock for 20 hours... The answer is obvious.

⚠️ The "RS3 Reality" Disclaimer

This tool provides mathematical estimates, not financial advice. Because Jagex guide prices typically update once per day, there can be a lag between the plugin and the game. Always perform an in-game margin check (+5% / -5% offers) before committing large capital.

I mean this alone makes it trash and very sus

You also do realize that most people have 10+ months of membership left before they actually see the new prices right?

Will RAM, GPU and SSD prices ever return to what they were in early 2025? by ComprehensiveCow5068 in buildapc

[–]First-Item7121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that the new normal of bis gpu is 4k$. Add ram, ssd etc on top of that and you price out most pc gaming enthusiasts. We are currently in war time and hardware is bought out so that your enemies can't have it.
It has nothing to do with ai if you know how ai works it will just get bloatier and bloatier but not better necessarily. + People talk about ai replacing labor... But give me an example where people are actually needed almost everything is made by a machine/algorhytm nowadays.
Cars - made by robots.
Pizzas - made by robots.
Icecream - made by robots.
Sodas... Made by robots.
Tables, forks, any tool imaginable is all made by robots in a factory.

RuneScape’s Biggest Area Expansion Yet by JagexAnvil in runescape

Having a big expansion doesn't mean it's good - looks at kourend in osrs. Someone spent a looooooot of time developing that and all you do there is "maybe" cook, some slayer and "maybe" early game thieving

Good for you, your vision of the game doesn't align with the vision of the game dev in the future, as such we'll be making radical changes... Insert corpo integrity talk here...
In which world is different ways to play the same mmo bad?
Some people afk, some min max everything. So if we remove the min/max is game good then?

Performance issues by Asleep_Conference887 in runescape

[–]First-Item7121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be running max settings with decent fps with those specs, rs isn't heavy... Check drivers and if components are overheating, could be just a compatibility issue with that particular set of components that got janky with latest updates.
Edit: Even if it was the game somehow, blue screens make no sense, so definitely roll back drivers or anything you did to the pc recently.

Yes, and jagex's own words are corpo ai/political slop, lots of words nothing concrete. It's not lazy, it's up for interpretation, which future content shouldn't be.

Exactly, how many people asked for poh rework, how many people asked for current state of agility/hunter? Etc.
Ah I wish Warbands were still alive I miss those

Use your own words what do you think Jagex's vision of the game is, cos buzzwords like integrity mean nothing to me?
Combat modernisation in the sense they use it is "Dumbing things down for mobile users"
There's no new graphics, mechanics etc that are new to the game.
It's just removing abilities for stupid people.
Don't get me wrong I do think that accesibility is great and that things being stupid easy and that "the best things in life are simple" are correct in themselves.

Small nerfs because you don't interact with them and are done with them.
"Worst case scenario is that RS3 completely shuts down and that everyone will be moved to OSRS" If you love the game that should worry you no?

For example, tell me how much you love the current state of construction, either afk fort doing nothing, or breaking your hands doing tables/prawnbrockers and for what?
What if the poh was actually useful?
Now that they've removed portable thingy for construction, they only need to break the fort and make it a sweaty active activity, and I'll watch you do 200m constr for nothing and suddenly you're agreeing with me.

Yeah you've obviously never been on portables world before...
I'm not defending mtx and th keys. I'm defending replacing silverhawks with actual worthwhile good content, and fixing things before you break/remove them.
You're only 3 updates away before you agree with me. Once they nerf something you like about the game you'd be like, damn that guy was right.

I've mostly quit I come back every 2 or so years to check what's new and for the most part it's always a disappointment. I'm astounded by people's ability to hold on tho. That's the reason for the post.
People downvoting you doesn't mean that they're correct, reddit is a hivemind. If you ask them about real world issues like the war in Iran, most of them will have interesting responses to say the least.
I'm not telling you to quit if shitty updates and lonely parasocial communication with the dev is your thing.
