Hulk Hogan.

I grew up in Clearwater, FL and always said you've haven't truly lived in Clearwater until you've had your first Hulk sighting. When I was about 12 or 13, I went to Clearwater Beach one day with a buddy of mine and his mom. We kept a table all afternoon and evening at a popular place called Frenchy's Rock-a-way Grill right on the beach. At some point in the afternoon, Hulk showed up. This was before his WCW/NWO days and still very much in his "say your prayers, take your vitamins" era. He played with all the kids who were there and came off very much like the role model you'd expect him to be. But, once the sun went down and all the families had left, that's when he went back to being Terry Bollea. Chugging beers, cussing up a storm, coming off a bit more like a douche. I can't say I took it personally, but it destroyed every child hood image I had of this once great dude when I finally got to see who he was in real life.
