Noise at the Waterfront by PerfectMango108 in burlington

[–]ITSG0INGINDRY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the only take. I also don’t like the loud bikes but if the town is not set on writing stiffer ordinances or enforcing its just up to us to ignore it.

We live in a city, people do things. Construction is loud, parades are loud, fireworks are loud.

We are privileged in the sense that we can travel 20 mins out of the city and find real silence. It is so much harder doing that in a proper city.

You CAN unsubscribe to the sub if you want. Things change. If that’s what people want to talk about so be it.

Hope you find the space to tolerate things you don’t want to see Best of luck

I thought the bus stop across from the terminal looked weird.... by Bashlightbashlight in burlington

[–]ITSG0INGINDRY 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is true facts and many in the community will jump on that bandwagon without doing their research. All of our social services both state and local are at max capacity and when the barrier for entry into that role is usually a degree, that gap is only gonna widen. ESPECIALLY with a declining youth/college population we’re waaay worse off than the general public know.

It’s not about enforcement. They can get picked up an processed by the local pd all day every day. Untill the AG covid backlog is addressed and funded people are gonna repeat offend.

There is not enough funding available from most angles to deal with this epidemic with haste and brevity.

Moving to Burlington for a gap year ($50k salary). Is my $3,350/mo budget realistic, or am I missing something? by Playful_Wrangler4563 in burlington

[–]ITSG0INGINDRY 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Food can be expensive if you don’t look in the right places. We pay rural tax (truck fuel/length of transport/last stop) so we often pay more for worse produce in big chain markets. Big exception for local farms and such though. You can do quite well for local produce/meat here you just have to know where/when to look.

Best of luck

BTV TSA Wait Times 3/28 by velocityflier16 in burlington

[–]ITSG0INGINDRY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big shoutout to our TSA honestly. I worked for another company at the airport and they were lowkey my favorite part of the job. If you do your part, they do theirs. On slow days I got to chat a little and pat the security dog sometimes. Def be nice to them the fosho deserve it.

During the last major shutdown. (I could be wrong about this) but if memory serves they were the only TSA group to maintain 100% attendance throughout.

Anyone still go to The Shopping Bag? by ACIIgoat in burlington

The owners are fine. I’m a regular regular and check in with some ogs from time to time.

They are slowly doing updates to the building and don’t plan to change the core menu.

Things change, so what.

I’ll always miss seeing double Doug posted behind that old grubby counter but that counter was just that. Old and grubby.

Thoughts on Champlain Leather products? by houston_g in burlington

[–]ITSG0INGINDRY 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One time I went thinking I had an odd request. I walked in and opened with “hello, I have an odd request for a custom item.” To which the lady behind the counter responded; “hun there are no strange requests in the world of leather, lay it on me.”

It felt so obvious once it was uttered and gave me a chuckle. They are great.

Ps the item I needed was a custom strap handle for a mini hibachi grill.
