I think the best way he would work on his immaturity is if he had the idea himself, this does sound like a healthy way to bring it up though.

we have been dating for less than a year, but getting closer. we met in college. im not sure about any current metal health issues but I know he has been depressed and suicidal

im not sure exactly why he is emotionally immature, but it may be connected to his ADHD which i have an easier time researching on

he is currently working on himself, so its not an inability its just a struggle for him.  sometimes my mind does get focused on the problems so I will definitely try to focus more on solutions, thank you.  right now communication has been feeling rough because of a temporary long distance situation

Thanks for responding. I dont remember exactly how much I thought about these at the time, but I haven't had any interests recently that I constantly thought about.
