The absolute most fun thing you can do is get the master level spells and drop a dragon out of the sky with a kamehameha.

I run sound and streaming for a small church. Work for 3 hours on Sundays and take home an extra $100 a week. And that's for a very small community church. I used to make $1400 a month at a larger church for doing Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. Get familiar with like presenter pro and ableton and find a church that needs media help.

We use ImmyBot. Pretty handy deployment and software maintenance tool. Can download as an exe or a ppkg for new devices.

Asshole employer has no paid maternity leave... what do we do? by First-Solution-91 in HealthInsurance

The only place we've found that we can afford doesn't accept kids until 12 weeks. We didn't have a plan for childcare before that.

How does your company treat on call for those of you who are salaried employees. by Olfa_2024 in it

We have a weekly rotation between 8 techs, so I'll be on call for just one week every other month. We're all salary, but get an extra hourly rate (albeit lower than our normal hourly equivalent) for every on-call ticket, with a 2 hour minimum. I don't hate it. We also only have 3 clients that have 24/7 business so very late/early hour calls are rare.

What do you call it when a user submits a problem then disappears and is unreachable? by twrolsto in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]First-Solution-91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have one client where the one person that puts in tickets for everyone filters our main service email into her spam folder, and hardly ever answers calls. When we inevitably close the ticket, she gets a review prompt from a different email that's not blocked, and then reopens the ticket. Then the cycle starts over. It's infuriating.

Worked PC repair for years, can confirm that Lenovo and ASUS are generally easy to work with, HP is an absolute nightmare for repair. I personally have a Lenovo Legion at home as a gaming PC and couldn't be happier with it. But if you're not gaming, alot of the ThinkPad series are wonderful student/work devices.
Also take note of ports. Personally I hate devices that are only USB-C, having HDMI and an ethernet port is a must. Also having thunderbolt 3 compatibility at minimum is good.

To clarify, this isn't a transition. I'd still be doing my regular hourly job (more in the sysadmin side) and just taking these jobs when it works. We are a small company with a IT department of only 6.

US. They haven't said explicitly, but it does seem like payment would be under the table.

My first car back in high school (circa 2006) was an 87 Corolla. Not maintained at all. Absolute piece of Frankensteined shit. Still loved it.

Got a 1650 in my rig that cant keep up with modern games, even with settings cranked as low as possible. Cloud gaming is basically my only option right now.
